Chris Kincaid has been writing since she was in the third grade, and though she has worked in the medical field for over 20 years, she has never lost the desire to put words to paper. However, her family and her faith have always come first, making some days a challenge as she continues to work fulltime, mentor a local Kinship kid, mentor her church’s college students and remain active as a member of the state society for her career in medical assisting. She lives in northern Wisconsin with her husband, four cats and one dog. Her two children, Nick and Val, are grown and living on their own. They both share their mother’s passion for Africa.

My Review:

This is a really good book for young adults that do not really understand about transmitted diseases. It explains how they are transmitted and how to protect yourself. This book mainly focuses on a mission trip that the author took to Kenya. Each chapter had a quote from Ecclesiastes 3, and the exact place to find it in the Bible. There is a very informative appendix with additional disease information. There is also a place for information on making donations. Knowledge is power and it takes people like this author to share that knowledge. I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.

My Review:

This is an interesting book about the Old Testament. The book of Revelation is one of the most well known, and probably the one I know the most about. In fact Noah's Ark in my favorite part of the Bible and I loved reading about it's Prophecy. Genesis is very interesting to me to read about how God started and how he had a plan for everything. It is amazing to read about. I liked that the author had little snippets of information that pertained to the Bible. For instance how important the word Grace is in God's vocabulary. I liked reading throw all the revelations and how they corresponded to the voice of God (or trumpet). Redemption is very important to Christians and that is why we go to confession. There is a whole chapter on redemption. The fifth Beatitude, "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy", is a perfect quote from this chapter. There are also chapters on The Altar, The Gospel, Leviathan, The New Birth, Two Covenants, Two Women and Two Mountains. In each chapter I found something interesting. I am giving this book a 5/5. My review:
I just finished reading Rescue the Captors and Rescue the Captors 2, by Russell Stendal. In the first book the author tells of the horrible experience of being kidnapped by enemies in Colombia and held for 142 days. The story throughout is that God is strong and that he is watching all of us. It is hard to believe that anyone could keep up their beliefs while they are being faced with terror each day. The author has decided that he would tell his story. In the second book he tells of giving back to others even though they have hurt him. He believes that it is very important that others know about God as he does. It is through this book that he tells of his experiences. I give this book a 5/5. My Review:
This was a great book about how government works, for young children. It helps kids to understand why some parents work, and some parents don't. It also had great illustrations and I loved that the words were whimsically placed on the pages. I really liked the catchy names of the different "classes" of people and my niece and I laughed a few times. My favorite part of the book was the election! I am giving this book a 5/5. Homeless to Hall of Fame Review

I dedicate this book to all the children of divorce, both young and old, who are searching for meaning and peace in their lives. I want to give them hope. After forty years of searching, I have finally come to peace with my own life.  I now realize that God loves me, and even when I didn’t realize he was there, he was watching over me and leading me.  My message to all children of divorced parents out there is: God loves you.  He is protecting you and watching out for you.  He has a will and purpose for your life. He will show you the way.  No matter how bad things seem right now, keep breathing and keep believing. Even though your earthly mother or father may have let you down, your heavenly Father will not.

In my story, I hope  you can find yourself, and that my lifetime of loss and searching will help you in your life’s walk.  I wish I could have learned the lesson of Isaiah 41:10 when I was a child.  It would have helped me through some very dark times.  I ask you to please read this verse every day of your life and believe it, all of your days.

Do not fear for I am with thee; do not be dismayed, for I am thy God, who strengthens thee; I will help thee always; I will always uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. (Isaiah 41:10 JUB).

My Review:

This is a tough story to read. Abuse of a child is never easy to hear or read about. However I applaud this author for spreading awareness. The verse "Do not fear for I am with thee; do not be dismayed, for I am thy God, who strengthens thee; I will help thee always; I will always uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. (Isaiah 41:10 JUB)." is one that I will never forget. There are times when we all feel that we are alone and forgotten. Even though this book is dedicated to the children of divorce I think that this book is perfect for a lot of other people as well. Widows are what comes to my mind first. However his book is great for any one. There is a section at the end that offers advice, and I recommend that every one reads it, and this book. If only to read about the verse above. I have often said that love makes a home, and you can house with no love and be homeless. God is always with us, no matter how hard life is. Even if you feel like you are alone and desperate, God has a plan. I have heard that God never gives you more then you can handle. I am giving this book a 4/5. My Review:
This is a book to read when you are making your confirmation, or any time that you want to connect with God. There are a lot of different things that the author talks about, but the book is easily read and does not dragged on. I liked that this book started in Genesis. The author also included Revelations and it was nice to have Revelations explained and discussed. It was interesting that the Revelations were discussed out of numerical order, and it was easier to read about them. The author was a former hostage and he definitely knows a lot about faith. I agree that we need to drink from the cup of God, and a lot of people are unsure where to find it. The talk of God "restoring" his rightful people made me feel as though the world was going to end. I would have liked a more positive way of the author stating " Your world will be changed in unprecedented ways." It seemed that a lot of humanity will be doomed. However the author does a great job of talking about the Bible in his own way that made this book an easy read for me. I am giving this book a 3/5. Of Feathers and Friends

“Nobody loves me. Everybody hates me. I'm gonna go eat worms.”
While Tyler knew he wouldn't really eat worms, he did not feel loved. His parents sent him to live with his grandmother when they separated. Was he angry? You bet. Was he confused? Absolutely. Where did he fit in? He didn't know any more.
After an argument with his grandmother, Tyler decided to run away. “I'll show them I can take care of myself.” Tyler Andrews doesn't need anyone!
Tyler grabbed his piggy bank and his Dad's Navy ring and ran out the back door. He ran until he couldn't run any further. Too stubborn to turn back, he walked further and further into the woods behind grandma's house, scolding himself because he hadn't thought this plan all the way through. And it would be dark soon. Tyler looked up and saw a flash of red. What was it? What luck! It was a flag waving from a window of a tree house. A tree house!
Climbing up the ladder nailed into the tree, Tyler's resolve to take care of himself returned. Nothing would change his mind now. Really? What would happen when Cody and Jenna find him? What would happen when he meets Melody? Will these neighbor kids turn him in? What will he do with the wounded sparrow he finds beneath the tree house?
Follow Tyler on his adventure to find his place in this world. Laugh or cry with him, whatever you need to do. You might just find you've grown up a little, too.

Darlene Hoggard Davis is a retired elementary vocal music teacher who has been a substitute teacher, a volunteer teacher and a children's music leader at her church. She still teaches piano. Darlene has worked with kids for more than 40 years, including raising her own two sons. Along the way, she started writing for children, and occasionally taught writing sessions with the students. My Review:
This is a really cute story about a boy who feels lost and decides to run away to live his own life and to teach his relatives a "lesson". What he does not count on is finding true friends that help him realize what friendship and family is all about. I liked the ending, and I really liked how Tyler will be spending his Wednesdays. I would have liked one of the characters to have a bad ending, only because kids will read this and think that they can run away and everything will be okay. By far my favorite character was feathers and the ending for feathers. There were times that I laughed, but there were also times where the author connected relatives that was sweet and I could definitely understand tears of joy. I am giving this book a 3/5. Two Mothers and Their 60-Year Secret Review

Childless couples in the twenty-first century have a number of options when they choose to adopt, but in 1936, options were fewer. There were few counsellors who could help advise those wanting to adopt. So Tommie and Minnie Brock set out to find a baby on their own and told only one person, their family doctor. The doctor connected them with a well-educated, bright, young woman, pregnant and willing to consider adoption. Then my adoptive mother and birth mother pledged in an oral pact to keep my adoption secret. For many years, no one spoke to me about my birth and adoption, and all I could find out was through some grapevine gossip.
This book recounts the sequence of events in my life that led me to full disclosure of that agreement between my two mothers. My life with all its unanswered questions has been blessed beyond measure, showing that God is in control of our lives. I still know nothing about my birth father, but I am certain I have a heavenly Father, Who has made me His child by faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, and has adopted me into His family with full rights of sonship.

Nita Brock Rogers was adopted at birth and grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana. She earned her B.A. in Biblical Studies from Luther Rice Bible College & Seminary. Nita was secretary for the 1973 Billy Graham St. Louis Crusade, Administrative Assistant to the Director of Evangelism for Florida Baptists, as well as being widely known as a speaker for women’s conferences and retreats. She led a women’s seminar on prayer and spiritual awakening for the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
Married for fifty-nine years to Dr. Ben D. Rogers, pastor, evangelist, author and educator, she has served as the administrative assistant of his evangelistic association since 1972. Nita has joined her husband for crusades in England, Korea, Israel, and Africa. She began teaching the Bible at the age of thirteen and currently leads a women’s class in her home church. My Review:
This is a story that proves how important adoption is. The moms were my favorite part and I thought how fitting that I am reviewing this book on Mother's Day. These two women shared a secret. Their love for a child was so strong that for 60 years they did not break their promise to one another. I loved the real pictures of Nita and her family at the end of the book. I also would like to mention that the author mentions her birth father, but I am not giving away spoilers! I am giving this book a 5/5.
