My Review:
This was a great book. I am not a fan of westerns, but I loved this book because there is so much more to it. This is the second book in the series, and we learn about how the brothers are doing and we learn about how the couple from book 1 is doing. We learn about old rivalries, and new loves. I loved the way the brothers went back and forth, the author made me feel like the story was about siblings I see messing around every day. I laughed at the banter and I cried at the sad times. I especially liked that Gabriel "manned" up and took care of his woman and her brother. I loved the ending when Brenna found something she was looking for. There is also a new book coming out soon as well. I hope that their enemy gets what he deserves in the next book.
I loved the chemistry between the couples and the book ended with answers for the main characters, even though there is somewhat of a cliffhanger.
I liked to read about how the characters took care of their land and how times were different then. I am giving this a 4/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.

She was on a quest of discovery.
He was on a quest for revenge.
Together they would discover a second chance.

Brenna Cameron travels from Scotland after losing someone she loves in search of family she didn't know existed. Alone now in the world, Brenna makes an arduous journey, following the trail of discovery to Briarwood, Montana. Here she meets Ethan Gallagher, and the rest of the Gallagher clan. Only with their help is she able to discover lost family, heal old wounds and embark on a treacherous confrontation with a man who destroyed her family. As head of the Gallagher clan, Ethan has more than enough to occupy his thoughts and time-he didn't need the complication of Brenna Cameron and he certainly didn't need the trouble that came with her. Ethan takes on the unwanted duty of self-appointed protector to the headstrong Scot, only to discover there is such a thing as second chances and more to life than revenge.

My Review:
This is the first book in the series, and it introduces the Gallagher's and their biggest enemy. Little did they know that Brenna would show up looking for answers and losing her heart to Ethan instead. She has a past that she is determined to set straight, no matter how the truth feels. She needs to find someone to make her family complete and she enlists Ethan's help. He was a goner as soon as he lost his heart to her. I did not expect the ending, and I was really excited to learn the truth. The secondary characters were fun to read about, and I liked the friendships that were bonded. The fight of wills between Ethan and Brenna was funny at times, because I knew they were just being stubborn. This book started a great series, and I can only hope someone at the Hallmark channel reads it, and pitches a movie series!
I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.

The Deposit Slip by Todd M. Johnson book review

What would you do for $10 million?
What would you do if your parents left you a deposit slip with a $10 million deposit on it?
What would other people do to get your $10 million?

I asked myself these questions as I read this book. This book is about a woman who finds a Deposit slip on it from her fathers safe deposit box in the amount of $10 million. However when she goes to the bank they tell her it is a fake.
She left town only to come back and deal with all this drama. She starts looking for an attorney and someone recommends the account to lawyer Jared Neaton. Jared is not financially stable and has just lost a very big case. He was also from the same town where the bank is, but he took left only to come back for this deposit slip.
If Jared can win the case, then he will use the money to stabilize his firm.
Jared uses everything his has in his reach to win, he even moves back in with his estranged father.
As the judge allows a trial and the trial gets closer, the town's web of lies starts to come undone. Jared stays awake many many night to prepare for depositions. Finally Jared's secretary finds a huge break in the case, but will everyone survive to prove it to the judge?

I liked this book. It was a good mystery and I never thought of what the big break was. I was surprised. I also liked that there were no loose ends and the end of the book answered all of the questions I had.

I was given a copy of this book by Bethany House to review. However all opinions are my own.

Love in Disguise by Carol Cox book review

Can a woman in 1881 help the Pinkerton Detective Agency solve a crime? Ellie Moore proves to the agency that she can trick them, so they give her a chance to solve a real crime. Ellie travels to Arizona to help miners find who is stealing from them. However she is not herself. At first she uses her skills as an actress to be Lavinia Stewart. As Lavinia she plays a gray haired widow that gets into everyone else's business. She asks questions and and most people think that she is just lonely.  When the agency contacts her about the person she was supposed to be traveling with, Ellie decides that she can be more then just Lavinia. She then disguises herself as Jessie Monroe, a much younger and daring character. Jessie goes places that Lavinia would not dare to go. Jessie also gets more information out of the men of the town, because of her beauty.
One of the Mine owners Steven Pierce is indeed attracted to Ellie, but he does not know her true identity. As Ellie uses both characters to get more and more information, she puts herself in more and more danger.
This was a very nice romantic suspense novel. It was also nice to go back to 1881 Arizona. The thieves try to scare Ellie at first, but then they get more assertive. Ellie is not safe, no matter who she dresses as. Without giving away the end of the book, I must say that it had a non climatic ending. Old enemies proved helpful, and Ellie told certain people who she really was.
All in all this was a very fun to read book. I enjoyed when Ellie had to use both characters in a short period of time.
I was given a copy of this book to read by Bethany House. However all opinions are my own.

Angels, Miracles, and Heavenly Encounters book review

I was given the book Angels, Miracles, and Heavenly Encounters; Real-life Stories of Supernatural Events compiled James Stuart Bell for the purpose of this review from Bethany House. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this book. It was uplifting and reminded me that there are angels out there watching over us. Even though we do not see them. The book has 44 different short stories and is very easy to read. whether you have time to read 5 stories at once or just one, you are able to read at your own pace.

My favorite story was The Lasagna Multiplication Miracle by Beverly LaHote Schwind. This is a story about a community that is deep in superstition and is not ready to go to church and embrace God. So missionaries go to them and host a Lasagna dinner that will also give clothes and shoes to the needy. Because there is such a lack of church involvement only 1 tray of lasagna is made, enough to feed 20 people.
People kept coming and coming. Workers ate, and ate. The clothes and shoes were gone. Over 60 people had ate out of the lasagna tray for 20. There was also enough left over for the servers at the end. God had once again multiplied food for his followers, like the bread and fish from the Bible.
I liked this story because it reminded me that the Bible is accurate.

I also liked this book because it is a compilation from different contributors. Each story is told from a different view, and keeps the book interesting.

My Big Bottom Blessing book review! Plus GIVEAWAY

I was given the chance to review My Big Bottom Blessing by Teasi Cannon by Worthy Publishing at http://worthypublishing.com/books/My-Big-Bottom-Blessing/
This is the first blog tour I have done, and it was worth it!
The front of the book drew me in right away, with quotes from Wynonna Judd, and the sub title "How Hating My Body Led to Loving my Life". This book looked interesting to me because, I think, all of us have had concerns about our weight.

This book is about finding yourself and believing in God's plan for you. God made us who we are and we should have good self image and body image. If we have faith that God made everything in his image, then we too should follow God's steps on how to build self esteem.

However, with some good, there is some bad. This author believes that The Devil gives us low self esteem. The Devil whispers hurtful words in our ears and makes us feel bad for ourselves. This author also leads the reader to believe that there are no bad people, but rather only good people under the bad influence of the Devil. Good people use hurtful words and throw sticks and stones, because they themselves are under the spell of the Devil.

The book focuses on the life of the author Teasi Cannon, and her lifelong battle with body image. From abuse, name calling, weight loss and gain, Divorce, parenting, and eventually finding the love of her life Teasi can relate to any reader.

What I liked about the format of the book was that at the end of each chapter there is a question section to answer, a pep talk section, and a forward focus:thoughts section. There are also a lot of prayers that correspond to the sections of the book you are in.
I would like to finish my review with the quote on page 149.
“Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:37-38

Please feel free to learn more about the book here http://worthypublishing.com/books/My-Big-Bottom-Blessing/
This is the Introduction:

My weight on the scale led to such an agonizing weight
of emotional pain in my heart, which led to a total breakdown,
which (ironically) led to the very adjustments that saved my
life. As these adjustments were made, things started getting
better. I know that statement sounds annoyingly simple. So,
let me be clear: some of the adjustments were quick and easy,
but some took lots of time and were quite painful.
Now, the reason I can’t keep this story to myself isn’t
because I feel the need to share my pain. No one would want
to read a story filled with only pain. No, I want to share the
story because I love my life now, whereas I used to be miserable.
Because I love my friends now, whereas I used to be
jealous and bitter. And—perhaps most miraculously of all—I
love my body now, whereas I used to hate with a capital
H
Hate
—myself beyond words.
I have a feeling the same can be said of you. And as
you read this story, I hope you will discover that you are
not alone in your pain, no matter how great or small. I hope
that you can get healing for even the deepest wounds in your
voices/lies in your head as truth takes over.
As I tell you how it all happened for me in the pages to
come, I’ll also share a little of my poetry, a taste of my journal
entries, a lot of my findings, and some heartfelt prayers. Oh,
and along the way I’d like to introduce you to some of the
characters who claim my head as their residence.
Welcome to my experience of the goodness of God.
