Weekly review & Giveaway... Gardeners come see :)

I was given a free 30 day trial to the groOrganic Garden Planner on http://www.groorganic.com/
I was really excited to try this out because I have my greenhouse and I love to Garden. I was really excited to also become a member of groOrganic. The planner uses a SFG method. Which is square foot gardening. I have never used this type before, usually I just plant. lol. I found that it was a lot easier and that I saved space in the process. You can add plants or delete plants as the summer goes on. I was also very impressed by the planner itself. Every plant I was looking for, and then some, were there, although not all varieties. For example Comfrey was an available plant. However there was only 1 type of tomato. But when you double click on the picture of the tomato you can add the variety of your choice, like cherry. I was also pleasantly surprised that each plant they list includes an information button next to the name. The info tab tells you all about the plant, a few examples are plant family, soil, space and harvesting. So now I know all about Comfrey :). The Planner also takes into effect where you live and your frost zones. So as the summer progresses you know when to start sowing certain seeds and planning for the following year. The planner also automatically keeps perennials in the plan for the following year.
All in all I was very impressed and would like to use this planner every year to plan my garden. I would just add more varieties of plants.

Rest of garden

MMMMM fresh Raspberries
Raspberry bush is overgrown. Hubby doesn't mow too close after the hibiscus incident... Don't ask LOL. Poor hubby.
This is our pond.
This is half our garden... We have a lot that needs to be thinned. We have already had lettuce, Romaine and leaf, and peas. The other half is corn and all stoned.
Cauliflower anyone?
I need to do a far away pic of this side of the lawn... On my list for today!
Also my flowers in front are so pretty, that is on my list to. Seems the more I do, the longer my list gets :( oh well

Greenhouse

This is the Greenhouse at night. We put white stones around it.... It's still a work in progress.
My seeds said 5-15 days to germinate... this is day 3 in the greenhouse.
This is a close up of day 3
This is a better pic of the inside
This is day 5.
This is day 7. They grew so fast, we didn't have enough soil...

I have a pepper plant inside to see what 1 produces better peppers. Watermelon too.

This is day 8. We need to transplant them. Badly LOL.
So I have decided I need a laptop to accommodate for being in the greenhouse all the time. Gonna have to work on Hubby for that one.. My mom has a laptop that she never takes out of the house. Let's make a deal? LOL

reason I have not been blogging lately

I love to garden, it soothes me and gives me time to think, plus I get nice beautiful flowers or yummy veggies to eat! My hubby and I have been married for 4 yrs in October, and every year we have a garden. I start the seeds indoors and hide them away from our 6 cats..... Which usually means I can't get to them either and my hubby waters them (we have a finished basement with heat, and I rarely do stairs due to a back injury...weeding is a task also). So after a lot of trial and error we figured out container gardening was best for us. I also wanted a place that I could do my thing, without bringing dirt and plants inside. We always talked about a greenhouse, and my hubby got me one for our anniversary and my birthday! This is the finished project... Its 8 x 12 and hubby painted it a shade deeper than the house to account for fading. I sooooo love the Dutch door.... Also I am constantly laughing while I am inside, because I think of the movie Funny Farm....when he walked thru the Dutch door LOLOLOLOLOL
This is what we have inside (so far):
my new (2nd) set of seedlings
1 tote of pots
1 tote of seed starting/thinning pots
1 super comfy bench right at bench level
few herbs (rosemary) that are now safe from cats!
Also behind the bench is a shelf that has a radio and shovels and dirt and plant food, and misc. stuff. We also laid down a runner so I can sit barefoot and read.
This is the Plexiglas window side....
This is the window that is above the bench... it is to the right though and was not visible in the other inside pic I took. I am sure it will pop up in a later post....
This is how they assembled it...My hubby took all pics for me because I was at a craft show with my sister... I made $8, which paid for my papers last weekend!! Also we put it right in the middle where our old pool used to be so we don't have to worry about laying grass seed where the sand was....
I absolutely am a million percent satisfied... I have already been in it during rain (to check for leaks LOL), sat on my bench and read, and potted some stuff. There was no reaching or bending...Also between the Greenhouse and Shed there is a pond with Koi fish.... which is below the greenhouse window.... It is so peaceful to sit and read while smelling lavender and rosemary, while listening to the water cascade of the pond.... Thus I am never inside to blog anymore! My mom and hubby teased me... wanted to buy me a bed so I can live in there! We'll see!
