Book Title: Till Death Us Do Part
Author: Cristina Slough
Genre: Military/Romance Suspense
Release Date: December 29, 2015
Hosted by: Book Enthusiast Promotions
The fateful day Mimi Marcus has dreaded begins with a phone call...
The wife of a U.S. Marine, Mimi spent countless nights worried that her husband Joel would fall in the line of duty. He had fought valiantly and served his country with honor. That’s exactly what they tell her when they deliver the news—Joel was taken by the enemy in Afghanistan. Her husband is dead.
In desperate need of closure, Mimi travels to the one place Joel still has ties—The Marcus Ranch in Texas, inherited by his handsome younger brother Austin.
New beginnings are only an illusion...
The closer Mimi grows to the Marcus family, the more she considers it home. But when suspicions of Joel’s past surface, Austin refuses to disclose family secrets—even to his brother’s widow. It’s only by accident she uncovers evidence of Joel’s tainted past. Devastated by his lies and betrayal, she slowly opens up to Austin, and together they unfold layers of pain and grief.
Mimi is sure she’ll never love again, but is Austin the man to prove her wrong? Then the unthinkable happens…
Just as Mimi finds new hope in a future with Austin, Joel returns home from war. Enraged, traumatized, and teetering on the edge of insanity, Joel confesses to a history of deception, revealing yet another secret—this one too terrible to forgive.
In an awful twist of fate, Joel proves marriage vows are made to be honored.
No matter what.
Q&A with Cristina Slough Getting to Know Cristina Five Fun Facts
- I love writing to music, it sets by mood and puts me in the zone.
- When I was little, I believed one day I would really fly just like Supergirl!
- I have jumped out of a plane, by choice!
- I know the words off by heart to over 20 movies, but I can never remember song lyrics!
- I love the water but I can’t swim.
- Google is essential, so I must have internet (I’m a writer not a serial killer!)
- Music (I cannot write without it.)
- A notebook and pen (I have to write down ideas immediately.)
About TILL DEATH US DO PART Q: That ending....Many Readers didn't see it ending as it did. How much of that ending was you and how much was you letting the characters take the wheel? A: That ending was all them. I didn’t even know what was going to happen until my fingers typed the final words. Suddenly, my mind raced right back to the opening chapter of the book where Mimi was dreaming about Joel; his body, bloody and wet. All of the feelings and emotions I had throughout the story came together in the final scene. The best way to describe it would be—putting a needle and thread throughout the book and stitching it all together. Truly, it felt like I was right there with them. The ending resulted in showing readers what I saw…even I was shocked! Q: Favorite Scene of TILL DEATH US DO PART? There were quite a few scenes that I loved writing. If I had to make a firm choice then it would have to be Chapter 30 titled: Joel. This is where my emotional investment to the story hit its highest level. It is the moment that my voice was no longer my own. It was all theirs. Q: Team Joel or Team Austin? Ultimately, Team Austin. But I loved writing about Joel, he was very complex, there was far more about him than meets the eye. Q: Who is your celebrity dream cast for TILL DEATH? Scott Eastwood would make the perfect Austin. I’d love to see Zac Efron play Joel, although he would have to be more rough around the edges. Looks wise, Shay Mitchell would fit Mimi perfectly but I have no idea if she could pull off a British accent! I think that Julianne Hough would also fit the physical profile of Meg, but again, she’d have to be able to pull off being a Brit. Q: If you can pick one song that encompasses the whole story, what would that song be? I won’t give up by Jason Mraz. I wrote the end scene to this song. It could have been from either Joel or Austin’s POV. Q: Do you have plans to write more with the characters from TILL DEATH? No. I truly feel like my journey with the characters has ended. That being said, they will forever be a part of me. Q: What is in the works now? I am working on a new standalone novel about a woman that fakes her own death to escape from her abusive husband. Some of my research is being carried out by working with a lady who has been a victim of domestic violence. She has offered to share her experiences with me. It is not based on her life, however she is helping me to understand what some women may be feeling that are or have been in an abusive relationship. This one is going to be emotional for sure.
Novelist, movie addict, and animal lover, Cristina Slough is the author of:
Till Death Us Do Part, her debut novel.
Cristina has always been a bookworm, rarely seen without a pen and paper in her hand, she loves delving into a literacy fictional world of her own.
At the age of 11, her junior school teacher told her mother that she would be wasting her life if she didn’t become an author. Throughout her teenage years and beyond, her parents spurred her on to keep writing. She later began a career in commercial real estate, working in London’s West End, a corporate bubble where she was unable to fuel her passion to write.
It was on her Californian honeymoon in 2012 that the bug to write was becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. After visiting Yosemite National Park she was inspired by the natural beauty of the land that surrounded her. Holding a special place in her heart, Yosemite would later be written into her debut novel.
She finally gave up the ‘big smoke’ when her son, Lucas, was born in October 2013.
When Lucas was a newborn, Cristina was told to sleep when the baby sleeps. She never could. There was a calling inside her to write. After getting to grips with her new role as a mother, she began working a psychological thriller, but she couldn’t fully connect to the characters she created. She ditched the manuscript and started Till Death Us Do Part(Limitless Publishing, 2015).
Cristina is married to Adam, who runs a successful business; together they share their Bedfordshire home with their son, crazy white German Shepherd and three spoiled cats. They can be found trekking through woodlands, or around the many shops Cristina loves to explore. As a family, they love to travel frequently, the United States being a firm favourite.

About
the Author
When
I was a child, I made up games and characters when my sister and I
played with dolls. As I grew older, I would make up scenarios and
scenes, fully intending to write them down but never finding the
time. In my late teens, I discovered the world of role playing and
settled into an avid ‘geeky’ life of D&D, comics, sci-fi and
fantasy fiction. Years passed and I finally gave voice to the stories
in my head. I write romance, fantasy, action and adventure. I love
tales of steampunk and history, tales of magical powers and dark
curses lurking in the shadows. Though The Black Lotus is not my first
attempt at a novel, it is the first I have finished.
And
some fun facts about me:
I

My
favourite Disney film is Atlantis.
I’ve
been a film extra and stood 5 feet away from Sam Rockwell.
Babylon
5 is my fave sci-fi show.
I

Fun Fact:
I grew up visiting the island of St. Croix with my family.
As an adult, I lived in the U.S. Virgin Islands, on both St. Croix and St.
Thomas. I always wanted to write a fiction story that took place there, but I
never took the time to write it until recently.
Excerpt:
Megan
peered out at the vast expanse of ocean gleaming in the bright morning sunshine
before her. The turquoise waters seemed to go on forever. From the Caribbean
Airways in flight map, she had noted theislands of Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and
St. John were in the far off distance. She had been told a faint view of the
densely populated St. Thomas could sometimes be seen on a perfectly clear day,
but no matter how she strained her eyes, she couldn’t quite see it today.
Had Maddy hopped on a sailboat and continued her travels to another island as the police officer had suggested? It wasn’t like Maddy not to check in. Her cell phone had been going straight to voice mail since the last photo Maddy had sent, and according to the cell company, the cell phone was out of service range. Something had happened to her sibling. The last communication with Maddy had been an unexplained picture of an iguana. No message, no text, nothing. Just an enormous, slimy, dragon-resembling lizard. Megan sunk her head to her chest. Where in the world was her sister?
“Everything okay, Miss?”
Startled from her hopeless thoughts, Megan sat upright at the sound of the low voice. Her eyes scanned the length of the man standing before her, and she pursed her lips together. She guessed he was probably about six-foot-two.
As she sat silently, observing him, the man repeated his question, “Are you okay?” His tone bordered on cautious, but concerned.
“Everything’s fine,” she finally managed with a tight voice.
With a smile, his concern faded away, and he reached behind his back to untie a grease-spotted apron. He folded the apron up, pulled out a chair at the table right next to Megan’s, about a foot and a half from her, and sat down.
An internal alarm went off, making Megan feel extremely uncomfortable with his proximity, and she fidgeted with her hands as he stared at her, finally forcing them into her lap. How could a voice so soothing go with a gruff-looking character like him? And what in the world was he doing sitting down so close to her?

The Truth of Rock and Roll, by Matthew Keville Giveaway, FREE Book, Teaser, Facebook Party & Fun Facts
Cover Art: Ruben de Vela
Print Length: 55 pages
A nameless young man is watching his dreams slip away when a man who let his own dreams die long ago sits down and begins to tell him a story: a story of young love and teenage dreams and rock and roll magic. A story about being young and being brave, and the girl who taught him how to be that way.
As the story unfolds, the young man begins to wonder if there's something more to this older man and his strange story...if maybe, just maybe, rock and roll magic is real.
A modern-day fable, The Truth of Rock and Roll is a cautionary tale about being young, being brave, and holding onto your dreams.

Character Fun Facts
- Jenny was twelve before her family got a TV – they were one of the last families in town to do so. Radio (and records, of course) are still her primary form of entertainment.
- Once they do get a TV, her favorite show is, of course, American Bandstand. She would have loved the early days of MTV.
- In contrast, Johnny’s family was one of the first to get a TV. Got to keep up with the Joneses…or better yet, get ahead of them.
- Jenny likes to stay up late with her portable transistor radio and try to get reception for radio shows from the cities.
- One interest that Jenny and Johnny share is movies; many of their dates involve trips to the nearest city to catch a flick. Jenny’s favorites are beach movies, biker movies, and (though she would never admit it to anyone but Johnny) musicals – basically anything where people ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after. She’d love the chance, if she ever got to The Big City, to see one of those experimental student films she’s heard about. Johnny’s favorites are creature features and Hammer horror films. They like each other’s favorites well enough that they rarely disagree on what to see, and they have common ground with science fiction. Neither of them like Westerns.
- Johnny’s father not only has a hand in the till, he has a woman on the side. Johnny’s mother knows this, and it’s not that she doesn’t care, but it’s what she’s come to expect from their class in their time and place. If she hadn’t married him for the money in the first place, it might hurt more.
- Johnny’s parents gave him a Mustang for his sixteenth birthday. He was extremely grateful, and eagerly drove it all over town to show it off. He didn’t realize until years later that they had done that because their neighbors had bought their son a Pontiac Firebird for his birthday earlier that same year. Got to keep up with the Joneses.
- Other avatars in Rock and Roll Heaven include the Dancing Queen (aka The Queen of the Bop), The Bitch Princess, The Boy With the Hot Car, The Lonely Girl (and The Coolest Boy In School, who rescues her from her loneliness…over and over again…forever…), The Lovers Beyond Death and The Broken Hearted.
- Though the Grey Man never realized it, one of the performers that he and Jenny saw on their one night in New York City was Patti Smith.
- I don’t want to give away anything about the narrator, but one thing you should know is that his plans weren’t particularly impractical. If – for example – he wanted to go to film school, it wasn’t for that one-in-a-million shot as an actor; he’d want to be a special effects technician or a cameraman. It’s just that his father considers anything other than an MBA to be “majoring in poverty”.

Matthew Keville wrote his first short stories in first grade, when the books on the shelves didn’t have the stories he wanted. He elected to leave at eighteen. Now he lives in New York City where everyone is only working as a waiter or bus driver or stockbroker until they make it on Broadway. This makes him different and special, because he’s only working as a paralegal until he makes it as a writer.

1.
When did you first
realize you wanted to be a writer?
I
realized I wanted to be a poet at 11 when my first poem won a prize in an
interschool competition and was published. Till few years back I always
considered myself as a poet and not a writer. Blogging brought the writer in me
out.
2.
How long does it take you
to write a book?
It
all depends on individual capacity. There are some famous authors who write one
every 3 months, some who write 2 every year, some who write on a year and then
there are few who take years to write one!
I
wrote my first novella in 3 days. And this one took me 3 months to complete.
3.
What is your work
schedule like when you're writing?
I
also work as an editor of a magazine apart from being a reviewer and
freelancing editor/reviewer for manuscripts.
So
my typical day begins with checking my mails, replying to important ones and
then I begin my work. My usual day is divided between reading, writing and
working equally and I work 14-16 hours a day at times when I am all obsessed
with an idea. I also have days when I barely work for 4-5 hours. I take it
light and try to catch up on more reading during that time or painting to keep
my creativity flowing.
4.
What would you say is
your interesting writing quirk?
I
write down everything in a notepad before drawing some flowcharts and diagrams
in a language best known to me. So it might read like one of those prompts we
used to get in high school English question paper. Only I would know what I
meant therein! And yes, it has to be black ink for me only. Nothing else works.
(I let out a secret here!*sheepish grin*)
5.
How do books get
published?
Now
that’s an interesting question! Usually we have two types of publishers –
traditional and self-publishing. Depending on your patience to wait you can
choose either of it.
I
wouldn’t say self-publishing is a bad choice because we have had authors like
Amish Tripathi come out of self-publishing. So for me it is more about the
conviction in your writing and story. You believe in something nobody else does
then you self-publish it and show the world that it is believable!
6.
Where do you get your
information or ideas for your books?
I
like capturing real life things as I mostly write about relationships and drama
that is something no movie or internet can tell you. It is about people and
only people can tell you that. So I enjoy travelling and observing people
trying to read their minds and hearts to know their stories.
7.
When did you write your
first book and how old were you?
I
wrote my first book at 16. It was a poetry collection of 25 poems mainly
dealing with teenage troubles and youth related issues. And till date it
remains very special to me for it holds some very unforgettable memories of my
life in those words.
8.
What do you like to do
when you're not writing?
Usually
if I am not writing I am either reading or painting. They both are equally
satisfying for me as writing.
9.
What does your family
think of your writing?
Well,
as all other Indian parents they think it is a good choice as a hobby but a bad
one for career.
10.
What was one of the most
surprising things you learned in creating your books?
11.
How many books have you
written? Which is your favorite?
Till date I have been a
part of 8 anthologies and this is my first solo release. It is very unfair of
me to select a favourite but as all are short stories and that too on love I do
have one. It is Euphoria from Stories
for your Valentine. This story speaks of an era I always dream of and if
possible would want to be time travel back to. For me this is a very special
story for if I had been born then I would have wanted this story to be my love
story. For this story all help I took was from a song of the period I wanted to
capture.
12.
Do you have any
suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?
Personally
I believe there is never a bad writer. We all are writers and there is always a
scope for being better for each one of us. The only thing I always tell
everyone and would like to tell you also is write because you want to and not
because you have to. When you do that, the writing automatically becomes the
best!
13.
Do you hear from your
readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
Yes
I do hear from them. I have received emails and Facebook messages. Two of the
biggest compliments I have ever received is – One, when someone told me I make
them believe in love through my stories.
Two
– when someone recently wrote to me after reading my book that what I wrote is
classics category and not commercial fiction.
This
was a huge thing for me for even when HT reviewed my work they used the word
“the era romanticism” for it and it was very encouraging to know that I could
do something like that.
14.
Do you like to create
books for adults?
All my stories are usually for the target
audience of 16-50.
15.
What do you think makes
a good story?
One
that comes straight from the heart makes a good story any day!
16.
As a child, what did you
want to do when you grew up?
When
I grow up all I wanted to be was a free bird. I always had strange career
choices so it was an RJ once, a VJ in between, a dancer in Shiamak Davar’s
troupe for quite some time, a news reporter and a rock star are what I remember
very clearly.
17.
What would you like my
readers to know?
About me – I am just a dreamer
who is madly in love with life.
About my work – I write about
dreams, relationships, romance and everything that is beautiful in this world.
About LIFE – It is one of the
most amazing surprises God has given us as it changes every moment and the
secret is it waiting for you to fall in love with it so that it can love you
back madly.
About love – it is the language
of the universe.
About you – A seeker who is
looking for those hidden meanings of life

Startled by the lack of movement, Kendíka sat up in bed, scanning the shadows in the moonlit room. Perspiration beaded her forehead while her heart pounded against her ribs. The last thing she remembered was sitting in the limousine next to Mr. Vetrano, arguing about her future. He insisted the will mandated her future, not him. Did the pill knock her out? How dare he drug me!
She blinked and, holding her breath, glanced around the unfamiliar room. When her lungs screamed for air, she exhaled then took another deep inhale. What the hell? What happened to the limousine?
Butterflies unsettled her stomach. Her back stiffened. Her heart drummed. Oh, my God! When did I get out of the car or come to this room? Why would Mr. Vetrano bring me to such a freaky place? Fear and the thought of her parents’ death brought fresh tears to her eyes.
She slid out of bed and shuffled her bare feet along the stone floor, hands held out to make sure she didn’t bump into anything hidden by the shadows.
At the opposite end of the room, she could make out a dark blob, which she hoped might be the door. Somewhere along the wall near it, she would find a light switch. She advanced slowly, making sure not to stub her toes. Her fingertips ran along the smooth wood. The handle felt cold. She pulled on the knob, but it didn’t budge. Strange! Her heart missed a beat. Why is the door locked?
With all her strength, she pounded on the door. “Mr. Vetrano?” She paused. “Is anyone out there?” She beat her fists on it a few more times, but when no one came to investigate the commotion, she slid to the floor and buried her face in her hands. Think, girl, think. Standing again, she moved her hands along the smooth walls at the edge of the molding, feeling for a light switch. Why can’t I find it? She tried again…nothing but wall. Why is no one coming?
Fun Facts:
- One of the more challenging items I researched was how to address people. I had been under the impression that I could refer to a duke as ‘My Lord.’ Boy was I wrong! To do so is quite degrading. A duke is addressed as ‘Your Grace’, and he’s introduced as, for example, ‘Charles Emory, the Duke of Deverow.’ Yes, he is one of the leading characters in my book.
- What about the funny little hat maids wore that looked like a shower cap? Well, that’s called a mob hat, and no, it has nothing to do with mobsters and gangsters. It was an essential part of a maid’s uniform.
- Speaking of servants, I had to understand what a footman does versus a butler. A footman did a variety of indoor and outdoor jobs. Important to me were the indoor jobs. Learning that a footman laid out the table, served the meal and tea, and assisted the butler helped me determine what Wordsworth’s duties had to be in the book.
- During this research, I learned that the butler was responsible for household security and most important, the wine cellar. The butler didn’t wear a uniform, but he wore a black cravat instead of a white one so he would not be mistaken for a gentleman.

Gathering Frost by Kaitlyn Davis Book Sale, 5 Fun Facts & Giveaway
Release Date: 02/17/15
Summary from Goodreads:
Will his kiss be enough to revive her frozen heart?
Once Upon A Time meets La Femme Nikita in GATHERING FROST, a dystopian romance from bestselling author Kaitlyn Davis that reimagines the classic fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty.
Jade was only a little girl when the earthquake struck. Before her eyes, half of New York City disappeared, replaced by a village that seemed torn out of a storybook. Horses and carriages. Cobblestone streets. A towering castle. And, above all, a queen with the magical ability to strip emotions away.
Ten years later and Jade has forgotten what it is to feel, to care...even to love. Working as a member of the queen's guard, she spends most of her time on the city wall staring at the crumbling skyscrapers of old New York. But everything changes when the queen's runaway son, Prince Asher, returns. Jade is tasked with an unusual mission--to let the Prince capture her, to make him trust her, and then to betray his secrets to the crown. In return, she'll earn her freedom. But life outside the queen's realm is more than Jade bargained for. Under Asher's relentless taunts, her blood begins to boil. Under his piercing gaze, her heart begins to flutter. And the more her icy soul begins to thaw, the more Jade comes to question everything she's ever known--and, more importantly, whose side she's really on.

About the Author
I've always been a writer. I grew up duct taping my novels together, started writing complete manuscripts in high school and studied creative writing at Johns Hopkins University. Upon graduating, I decided it was finally time to actually give my dream career a chance. So, of course, I started writing a young adult paranormal romance series -- and no, I'm not jumping on the bandwagon. I've been a true paranormal supporter for my entire life! I blame my obsession almost completely on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, my all-time favorite television show. And, before you ask: Yes, I own every season... even the post WB ones! I especially challenge anyone to watch the first three seasons and not fall in love with Angel, securing a lifelong love of vampires! Other culprits of my paranormal obsession are some of my favorite authors: JK Rowling, Raymond Feist, Meg Cabot, Richelle Mead, Lynne Ewing and Tamora Pierce.

My Review:
I read book one and loved it, so I could not wait to read book two. Vero loves his family, but he also likes to get good grades and be the best he can be. He is ready for his three challenges in Angel School. However he does not realize that there are fallen angels ready to attack. They go after his sister and he is torn between what to do. He soon discovers that no matter what he does there will be consequences. What is the lesser evil? Vero is meant for great things and his enemies will do anything to get him out of the way. Even saving his sister may not save the world. This is a great book for kids to read about good versus evil and angels. I am giving this book a /. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.
