The Bailey Devlin Series by Rebecca Forster Reviews

Book 1
Oh, boy! Oh, Bailey! What are you going to do when Fate decides to have a little fun with you? Bailey's horoscope promises the man coming to her door will change her life. He's not the man she wants, but might be the one she needs.

My Review:
I don't usually read rom-coms, however I was intrigued by the horoscope aspect of the book. I still read my horoscope whenever I have the paper in front of me, and I read my husbands. The prologue is about the first time Bailey's horoscope came true. which is something I think every woman can relate to on some level. Going through. Puberty is not easy. Then the book picks up in present day when Bailey is working to passing the bar.. on her way into work she has mishap after mishap. She  sees men as future boyfriends and the read is amusing. The rest of the book went on like that, and was even funnier when Bailey met her match, or is it matches? This was a quick fun read that I enjoyed. I am giving this book a 4/5. All opinions are my own.

Book 2
Find a penny, pick it up; just don't bank on Lady Luck.
Bailey Devlin is on the fast track to happiness when she picks up a woman stranded in the rain. Little does Bailey know that her good deed is about to change her fortunes forever.

My Review:
This book, like the first in the series, has a hilarious prologue. I think that almost everyone has heard of pennies, has heard of them being good luck, However, they have to be face up. In this case, Penny is a woman's name that Bailey picks up. Not only that, but Penny is a good friend of Bailey's new Beau. What a nightmare while meeting her Beau's parents. However, I do have to say that the middle of the book was fun and lighthearted. But the ending was the same as the first book, So, I am giving this book a 3/5.

Book 3
Just when you think it's going to be smooth sailing, Venus messes with your rudder. Everyone thinks Bailey Devlin has taken leave of her senses when she heads to sea to decide which guy will sail into the sunset with her.

My Review:
This is the conclusion to the trilogy and I did not expect what happened on the ship, at the end, at all. I few loose ends were also tied up. I am giving this book a 4/5. All opinions are my own.

I started writing on a crazy dare and found my passion. Now I'm a USA Today and Amazon bestselling author. I write what I love to read—thrillers. More importantly, I live the experience whenever I can. From graduating from the DEA and ATF Citizens academies, landing by tail hook on the USS Nimitz, and living in Albania to research ancient blood feud, I hope my adventures make my books unforgettable.

heirs-cover2

Imagine discovering that your ancestors were part of King Arthur’s court and that you are expected to find a way back in time to Camelot, defeat the evil queen, Morgana Pendragon, and return the rightful heir to the throne, all while trying to pass the 11th grade. That is exactly what happens to 17-year-old Michael Merlin and his friends.

My Review:

I love reading about history. Can you imagine being related to King Arthur? Okay, that is awesome in itself, nevermind being able to find Camelot. This is a great book for young adults that know the legends, and also know the pressure of high school. Everything I loved about The Round Table was here, added with the author's new tale, weaved togother to make a great fantasy for today's readers. I am giving this book a 5/5. All opinions are my own.

Walking with the Enemy by C. Read Review

Description:

"

Walking With the Enemy," by C. Read is the true story about the authors involvement with a Bible study group that turned out to be a cult remarkably similar to the Branch Davidians of Waco Texas led by David Koresh.

As of 28 February 1993 Read had been with them for some three years and had grown to love and trust the leaders completely but after she found out the truth about them she could no longer remain.

That did not stop them from wanting her back under their control and influence and her testimony will show how they tried so hard to convince her that they were right and she was wrong.

Cults are on the rise and no one is exempt from their evil influences! And even though David Koresh was violently removed from this earth over twenty years ago his spirit still lives on in the hearts of some very deceived and wicked men.

Author Bio Read first committed her life to the Lord Jesus Christ in the fall of 1979 while she was in the United States Marine Corps. She was stationed in Hawaii but while on a temporary assignment to Yuma Arizona the Iranian students seized the American Embassy in Tehran and had taken several American hostages.

A special friend of hers was on a six-month deployment to Japan and was placed on red alert. He was prepared to go to Iran at a moments notice and she felt so helpless to do anything about it.

That was such an uncertain time in her life and as unbelievable as it may sound Read was actually thankful for the Iranian Crisis because it was that momentous event that caused her to see the great need for her Savior. About that same time a young Marine whom she had never met came up to her as she was leaving her barracks in Yuma and handed her a Bible and said Here I think you need to read this. He just walked away and Read never saw him again but she will never forget him!

That brief encounter was a major turning point in Read s life and she did take his advice. Read started reading and studying the Bible but that was just the beginning of her walk with God...

“Walking with the Enemy is Read’s story of a three-year engagement with a religious cult and the miraculous event that gave her the courage to escape. …this book is an important narrative for any Christian believer, and might be of particular interest to anyone who is a survivor of a religious cult.
–Foreword Reviews

“An inherently fascinating, thoroughly absorbing, candidly personal story that should be considered urgent reading for anyone having to deal with a loved one tempted to join a cult or already part of one. Simply stated, ‘Walking With the Enemy: A Testimony’ is very highly recommended for personal, church, community, and academic library collections. Indeed, ‘Walking With the Enemy: A Testimony’ is critically important reading for all members of the Christian community regardless of their denominational affiliation!” –Midwest Book Review

“Read offers her personal tale of religious awakening, including her experiences with people whom she says were falsely serving Jesus Christ…
Debut author Read’s story is clearly heartfelt. ..Readers will likely be convinced of the author’s devoutness early on, which she bolsters with many biblical references…
…her memoir delivers a quick, highly personalized account of her life’s journey.”
─Kirkus Reviews

My Review:

Wow. This book opened up my eyes to the fact that anyone can be pulled into in occult, not because of who they are, but because of the leaders of the cult. This was a fascinating and sometimes scary look at how close this woman came to losing her identity. I also want to mention that this is also a book that shows religion in different ways, sometimes in ways that I did not agree with, ut had to read to understand what the author went through. This is not a book to be taken lightly. I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.

Hector Trogg's Perfect World by P.A. Booth Review & Giveaway

A brother and sister - An inheritance - An assassin

Through every boring day of school Hector Trogg dreamt of adventure. He wanted to fly a fighter plane, drive a tank, and leap from burning buildings. An unusual inheritance and the world's most feared killer turn Hector's daydreams into reality.

While Hector's family struggle to stay alive with the help of French special forces, Hector and his sister Kate carve a trail of destruction, aided by a dog called Bandit. The French fight for justice. The dog fights for the turkey.
Can Hector save the day?
Can Kate rescue Hector?

Paul Booth started writing stories for his children, and was surprised by how much he enjoyed it.
For the past sixteen years Paul has run a small company and played squash. He also quite likes cars. He continues to write books for fun, and his stories are thankfully better than his squash.
Paul lives in Lincolnshire with his partner Jenny, their two children, two labrador dogs who believe they are starving to death, and a deluded cat who is convinced he is a lion.
My Review:
This was a fun book to read. It was long (455 pages) but there was a lot going on. I loved Bandit! I also liked that the heroes were two siblings fighting for justice. The idea of an inheritance making Hector's day dreams come true was interesting. I liked that this book is also in audio book format for young adults that do not like to read long books. It was funny how Hector and his sister dealt with their new roles. When the pressure is on can they handle it? Then there is the assassin that they have to defeat. There are also other family members in the book, and it was nice to read about them and how the influenced the story. I am giving this book a 4/5.  I was given  copy to review through the Kindle Book Review (KBR), however all opinions are my own.

Once Upon a Road Trip by Angela N. Blount Review & Giveaway

Once Upon A Road Trip

Eighteen-year-old Angeli doesn’t “fit in.” She’s never been on a single date, and she lives vicariously through an online world of storytelling. With the pressures of choosing a practical future path bearing down, she needs a drastic change. Too old to run away from home, she opts instead to embark on a solo 2-month road trip. But her freedom is tempered by loneliness — and anxiety tests her resolve as she comes face-to-face with her quirky internet friends.

Aside from contracting mono and repeatedly getting herself lost, Angeli’s adventure is mired by more unforeseen glitches — like being detained by Canadian authorities, and a near-death experience at the hands of an overzealous amateur wrestler. Her odyssey is complicated further when she unwittingly earns the affections of two young men. One a privileged martial artist; the other a talented techie with a colorful past.

Bewildered by the emotions they stir, Angeli spurns the idea of a doomed long-distance relationship. But she is unprepared for the determination of her hopeful suitors. In the wake of her refusal, one man will betray her, and the other will prove himself worthy of a place in her future.

Angeli sets off in search of a better understanding of herself, the world, and her place in it. What she finds is an impractical love, with the potential to restore her faith in happy endings.

A true story with an unapologetically honest outlook on life, love, faith, and adventure — Once Upon A Road Trip is a coming-of-age memoir.

Title: Once Upon A Road Trip
Author: Angela N. Blount
Genre: Young Adult/New Adult
Publisher: Artifice Press
ASIN: B00E91R8NS
Paperback: 398 pages

My review:

I just finished reading Once Upon a Road Trip and it was an enjoyable novel. The main character is a young woman who sets out to find herself. She takes us, the reader, on the trip with her. She decides to take this road trip alone. However she does not realize how this trip will change her life. All of her outlooks will change and she will have to make decisions that she had not planned on. This was a true story and I felt as though Angeli could have traveled through Connecticut, and I would be able to recognize her. There are many adventures, both good and bad. This is a great story about a young lady growing up and becoming herself. I give this book a 4/5. I was given this book via The Kindle Book Review for the purpose of a review and all opinions are my own.

All American Addict by Jason Cunningham Review

My Review:
This was a raw look at William's life and the people in it. He is a good student with a bright future. What I liked about this book is how one mistake can change your life forever. William was ready to leave his messed up parents and to start fresh. He was not prepared for dating or love, or it's consequences. He is a victim of circumstance, and here were times that I was really emotional as I read this book. The ending was not as well thought out as the rest of the plot, and I felt as though I was missing something. However the author is definitely one that I will be following. When I cry and get mad while reading a book, the author did something right! I am giving this book a 4/5. I was given a copy to review from the Kindle Book Review, however all opinions are my own.

Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Way-Wedding-Suzanne-Stengl-ebook/dp/B00D54THLQ/

He’s building an estate home and marrying a sophisticated society girl.
Toria is running scared. She’s called off her wedding to the man her parents approve, and she needs time and space to discover what she really wants. The last thing she needs is the overwhelming attraction she feels for Ryder. And Ryder, confident in his conviction that love is overrated, denies his surprising fascination for his roadside damsel in distress.  But sometimes love arrives in the most unexpected places.&nbsp A 66,000 word novel - Coming of Age, Sweet Contemporary Romance - some Adult Language - features a lovable construction worker who occasionally curses when in the grip of powerful emotions, like when he duels with the heroine or hits his thumb with a hammer.genre: Sweet contemporary romance, family friendly!

My Review:
This was a good book. A lot of stories are about being left at the altar, however this book is about the person that runs. It is interesting to read what the runner is thinking and why she did what she did. I liked that her dress was in the trunk. After all that a bride goes through I knew that she was never really determined to get married if she put her dress in the trunk. I have to admit that I would never marry someone if they made me sign a prenup. It is definitely a small world and everyone you meet is for a reason. Toria is no exception. This was definitely a fun read and I hope that there is a sequel so I can read more about these characters. Ryder is also running for his own reasons. It was interesting to see who their reasons intersected. I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review from the author through Kindle Romance Review, however all opinions are my own.

Me & Moe by Michaela Renee Johnson Review

Sarcastic and witty, 29-year-old Alexandria Swanson is working her way up the on-air radio chain at a political talk radio station in San Francisco; when a New York media giant buys the station and turns it into a Top 40 Music format. In order to keep her job, Alex is shoved into the middays program as the resident dating expert.
There’s just one problem, Alex still lives with her grandparents, and her dating life is pathetic. She enlists the help of her celebrity-obsessed Grandma Moe and her ex-military Grandpa to teach her about dating. Her hilarious, poor-sport attitude makes station ratings fly off the charts, as her morals fly out the window. Alex is soon forced to explore her own tragic past as she wades through her fears of falling in love.

My Review:
This was funny. The dates that Alex went on really made me laugh and grateful for my hubby. Grandma Moe was my favorite. I never real thought much about what happens behind the scenes at radio stations. This book made me think about what fm did to am and what xm is now doing to fm. I liked Moe because even though she was from a different generation her advice was still worth following, or at least listening to. This book also reminded me that sometimes in order to find love you need to stop spending your life looking for love, but rather to grow as a person. Once you become the person you want to be, then love will be easier to realize. I am giving this book a 4/5. I was given a copy to review via the Kindle Book Review, however all opinions are my own.

Death Unmasked by Rick Sulik review

A reincarnated evil is stalking the women of Houston, Texas. With each murder, the madman quotes an excerpt from the Oscar Wilde poem, "The Ballad of Reading Gaol."  Selected verses from 'The Ballad' along with Christopher Cross's song lyrics from, Think of Laura, are also interwoven throughout the story.
A huge smokestack belching smoke and a ragged flea market double-breasted wool coat and an old antique picture frame with the Warrior's Creed, bring the distant past back to haunt Houston Homicide Detective, Sean Jamison.
With those catalysts, Jamison knows who he was in a past life - Emil - and that he lost the only woman he could ever love in Emil's time. Searching for his reincarnated mate becomes Jamison's raison d'être as he and fellow detectives scour Houston for a brutal serial killer.
When Jamison finds his soulmate she doesn't recognize him, nor can she recall a past life as his wife. His efforts to reclaim her are derailed when he discovers the same fiend who took her from him in the past is stalking her again.
The memory of timeless love drives Jamison's dogged search for a serial killer determined to finish what he started decades earlier. Each clue brings Jamison closer to unmasking his old nemesis.
Tenacious police work, lessons learned in the past, and intuition may be the only weapons Jamison has in preventing history from repeating itself.

My Review:
Love conquers all, even time and reincarnation. The author did a great job of making the reader understand what Emil was feeling. To lose his love devastated him. However in his next life he meets his love again and is willing to learn from his past mistakes. He refuses to lose her again. The same enemy resurfaces and wants to redo the past without changing the outcome. The chase for the killer was the best part of the book for me. It was fast and left me wanting to read the  author's next book. I also really liked the romance. To have a second chance at love added a dimension to the book that made me forget there was a serial killer on the loose. The paranormal was also present in the book. The ending was also well written. I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own. Vicky (deal sharing aunt) from Kindle Book Review

Element Princess: The Commence by Jenaia Williams Review and Giveaway

Kayta Plains; a small town located a few hours from Tokyo. This peaceful modernized, suburban area is about to get a wake up call. Element Princesses are young women possessing Godly abilities. Each woman possesses one of the seven elemental orbs: fire, water, earth, wind, ice, light and darkness. Kenta Shiroyama, a Spirit Being, is keeper of these orbs. He understands the power the orbs hold and plans to accomplish the ultimate goal: finding these seven young women. The Demons Docks are an underworld organization housing more than ten thousand demons and counting. The Docks’ leader, Derek Southbound, is the Demon Lord holding order while his officers, Demonic Princesses and Princes, set out and search for the beings who are the resurrected element controllers. Derek’s plan is definite: destroy the human race and rule the dimension. Together, Kenta and his seven princesses will stand up against dark forces, face off with Derek’s officers and they will discover what it truly means to stay alive.

My Review:
When I first saw this book cover it reminded me of Sailor Moon. However I was pleasantly surprised when the characters were humans and not cartoons. I loved that each princess was an element. I love stories that have strong characters, especially so that young woman can look up to good female role models. Kenta was a great trainer and he was also a great character to read about. I liked how he found the girls and I really liked the Japanese culture in the book. I could easily see this becoming a long series. Derek was a jerk, and I hope not to see anymore of him in future novels. Some of the words were hard for me to pronounce and read, however the author included a glossary that was a huge help to me. There are so many different aspects to this story that I found myself lost in the author's world. There are vampires, Godly powers, demons, spirits, clans, sorcerers and fallen angels. However the authors keeps the characters easy to follow to avoid confusion. I liked the ending and I am looking forward to more by this author. I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review by the author via Kindle Book Review (KBR), however all opinions are my own.

Annie doesn't know who she can trust until it is almost too late...

My Review:
This was a short and fun mystery that took place in a real County. Door County is a real place and I would love to visit there one day. The book describes a beautiful landscape. This is also the first Annie Malone Cozy Mystery and I can not wait to see the new dilemmas that Annie finds herself in when new books come out. Annie is fed up with her job, which a lot of people can relate to, and she takes a job in Door County to be a ghostwriter. What I found interesting is that ghostwriters definitely have something to hide. It is no where close to the dangers that Annie finds herself in. People in Door County are definitely interested in keeping there secrets safe. I liked the way that the author had the characters talk through duck tape, and I could hear them talking in my head. This was fast paced and the ending was so surprising that I had to read the book twice to see if I missed any clues. This book had it all. Romance, danger and mystery. I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review via the Kindle Book Review program, however all opinions are my own.

Evil Shadows by Rick Hallock Review and Giveaway

Evil Shadows is a true story of the extremes of identity theft that can lead to arrest, prosecution and imprisonment of the victim. It shows how the author’s identity was stolen and how that theft ultimately led to his financial ruin and closure of his successful business enterprise, all the result of actions of federal agents and prosecutors. After an exhaustive investigation, the author lays bare the whole story of how his identity was stolen and how it was used as cover for commission of other crimes. The story tells of his becoming the primary suspect in a worldwide federal investigation for those crimes and how federal authorities leveled their awesome and destructive powers directly at him in their zeal to make an arrest. It details the destruction of his successful publishing company and of how he narrowly avoided being arrested, prosecuted and imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. The story concludes with self-help chapters on the subjects of Prevention, Detection and Recovery from identity theft.

My Review:
I have to start this review by saying that I was really nervous as I read through this book. One little incident can take away your life, your identity, your home, all your assets, and even land you in jail. Even if you are not responsible for the incident. You can lose friends and loved ones as well. By the time you realize what is going on, it is too late for you. However the person that stole your life is happily doing whatever they want and may never be caught. In a world where technology is used to do just about everything it is getting harder and harder to trace what is going on, on the web. Especially if people are blocking themselves from being found. I do not balance my checkbook like my grandparents do (every month with cancelled checks and statements), because I check my info online. This really made me think. I realized that I need to be safer when I interact online and I hope that I am never in Rick's shoes. I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review via the Book Reviewer Yellow Pages, However all opinions are my own.
