Book Description:
Just one spell will change their
fates…
Cordelia is a pawn of House
Dorchada—a notorious noble family comprised of thieves, assassins and dark
wizards. Desperate to avoid their poisonous politics, Cordelia plotted her
escape for years, but her carefully laid plans are jeopardized when her father
commands her to marry an aged lord of Frostever.
With only a few short months left
before her wedding, Cordelia’s salvation hinges on creating a Sephra’s Tear—a
forbidden amulet that causes overwhelming lust in its victim. A black market
buyer promises a life-changing amount of coin as payment for the Tear, but
being caught creating it carries a death sentence.
Two wizards are needed to produce
the passion to fuel the erotic spell, so Cordelia recruits the aid of peasant
wizard Nathaniel Ravenwood. Nathaniel has long denied his desire for the
beautiful Cordelia. As a noblewoman and a Dorchada she is as dangerous to
Nathaniel as a viper, but the fortune she offers is a temptation he can't
refuse.
Dealing in dark magic comes with
a price, and Cordelia and Nathaniel risk losing their freedom—and their hearts.
Their fates depend on the one spell that will free them, or destroy them.

Interview
Where are you from?
The Chicagoland area, which is generally code for
the suburbs.
Tell us your latest news?
I’m on tour now to promote The Sephra’s Tear, the first in my Just One Spell fantasy romance series. In other good news Morningstar, the second book in my
erotic sci-fi romance trilogy, finaled in the PRISMs and the Passionate Plume
awards.
When and why did you begin writing?
My first published novel, Blood, Smoke and Mirrors, was released in 2010, and it started as
my 2006 National Novel Writing Month project.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I’ve always been a writer. I started my first novel
in 8th grade, and an excerpt from it won a local fiction award when I was a
sophomore in high school. Not bad. ;)
What inspired you to write your first book?
Blood,
Smoke and Mirrors started as a spur-of-the-moment idea. I
heard about NaNoWriMo just before it started that year, and I decided to give
it a try even though I had almost nothing in mind. It began with a scene where
Cat learns that her mentor has died, and everything built from there.
Do you have a specific writing style?
Epic. I tend to think in series instead of
standalones.
How did you come up with the title?
The
Sephra’s Tear refers to the amulet Cordelia and
Nathaniel work together to create in the book. I love that I was able to have
it front and center on the cover.
Is there a message in your novel that you want
readers to grasp?
Never trust an evil wizard. ;)
How much of the book is realistic?
Unfortunately I have yet to discover a magical
device that allows me to travel to fantasy realms to study the local customs,
and when I do I’m not going to share that information. ;)
Are experiences based on someone you know, or events
in your own life?
Aside from being attacked in the streets on my way
home from work by random groups of assassins (ninjas, am I right?), nope.
What books have most influenced your life most?
Nora Roberts’ Three
Sisters Island trilogy brought me back to romance after a long reading drought.
I love reading Nora. Her books are like a cup of hot chocolate on a crisp
autumn night.
If you had to choose, which writer would you
consider a mentor?
Hmm. I don’t know if I could pick a mentor, but I’ve
been very fortunate to have feedback from awesome authors like Chandra Ryan,
Keith Melton, and Devin Harnois.
What book are you reading now?
I’m currently reading The Spirit Eater by Rachel Aaron, which is the third book in her
Eli Monpress series.
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
I’m completely in love with Grace Draven. I just
picked up the sequel to Master of Crows
and it’s next up on my To Be Read List.
What are your current projects?
A little bit of everything. More Just One Spell
books, more Bad Witch books, and a few other ideas.
What would you like my readers to know?
In addition to the tour giveaway I’m also giving
away three copies of The Sephra’s Tear
