Convergence
by Michelle Grey

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Romantic Suspense
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Nothing comes between Tori Whitlock and her tornado chase season -- not a serial killer, not even the hot FBI agent who’s vowed to save her life. But Detective Jack Mathis plays tough. Ending this case isn’t just his job, it’s his mission. And he finally has the advantage.

He faces Tori’s hostility and objections head-on, interjecting himself into every aspect of her life, and leaving him no time to dwell on his own.

Through the twists and turns of the madman’s game, Tori is forced to adapt to her unwelcome circumstances. Still, she fights Jack's presence, and her attraction to him, as he tries to open doors better left closed.

For Tori and Jack, life and death decisions are part of their jobs. But, can they overcome their pasts and realize that there’s a difference between life and living?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt One:
This meeting isn’t about Glenn and his new show.”
Tori checked Cam and Dwayne to see if they were as confused as she was, but neither one was looking at her. She sat back and cocked her head. “Then what?”
Alan tugged at his shirt collar. “The emails. Cam gave them to me. And I gave them to the FBI.”
Her head swiveled to Cam, her voice low and menacing. “You rat ba**ard. I want my key back. You had no right.”
Cam’s steady eyes assessed her. “Would you have turned in the emails?”
Tori rolled her eyes. “Of course not. I –”
“Exactly. I had no choice but to be the responsible one.”
“Responsible my –”
Alan raised his voice, interrupting their spat. “Either way, the FBI thinks the emails are credible enough that they’re sending their lead agent on the case down here to become your best friend for a little while.”
Fingers dug into the chair’s padded fake leather arms as she shot a pointed look at Cam. “I don’t need another ‘friend.’ I’ve got enough of them already. What’s he going to do, live with me?”
“Probably. And chase with you, too.”
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Michelle Grey is an avid lover of books, and had always thought that someday she would take up her pen and write romantic suspense. In 2009, Michelle was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer, and she realized that “somedays” aren’t guaranteed. This life changing event motivated Michelle to pursue her dream of becoming an author.
In January of 2013, Michelle released her debut novel, Dangerous Ally.
In September of 2013, the next book in her Long Shot Series, Unspoken Bonds, was published.
Now a cancer survivor, Michelle decided to use her platform to promote awareness of ovarian cancer and its symptoms.  In January 2014 she published, Are You Listening: A Personal Journal of an Ovarian Cancer Survivor.
Because it is so important to spread the word, one hundred percent of the proceeds from this $.99 ebook go directly to the Vicki Welsh Ovarian Cancer Fund to support their mission of fighting ovarian cancer through awareness, education, research and support.
Michelle lives in the Midwestern US with her husband of twenty-eight years and has four amazing and unique children, a wonderful son-in-law, and two beautiful granddaughters.  Michelle believes that any day that involves family, writing, or reading is a great day, indeed.
Interview with Michelle Grey
Where are you from? I’m from the Kansas City area. Except for a four-year stint in Colorado as a youngster, I’ve made this area home my whole life.
Tell us your latest news? I have two projects in the works right now. One is the fourth book in the Long Shot Series, featuring Cam (Tori’s best friend from Convergence). The other is the first of a two book series about a reluctant accountant who travels to the San Juan mountains with her travel-blogger cousin and stumbles across a dead body.
When and why did you begin writing? I began writing my first novel, Dangerous Ally, in early 2008, after my mom lost her battle with cancer. Writing was one of those “someday” things for me, but her death made me realize that there are only so many “somedays.” I got serious about writing and getting better at my craft after my own cancer diagnosis in 2009. After being deemed cancer-free, I joined a writer’s group full of successful authors, where I met my critique partners. I’ve learned, and continue to learn, so much about writing since then.
When did you first consider yourself a writer? I think when I believed that Dangerous Ally was the best book I could make it, and published it in 2013, I finally considered myself a writer. Of course, that was after scrapping about 50,000 words of my original effort…lol
What inspired you to write your first book? I love romantic suspense, so once I made the decision to start writing, it was only natural for me to write what I love to read.
What would you like my readers to know? I never pass up the opportunity to promote ovarian cancer awareness. I was fortunate to have my cancer diagnosed in the very earliest of stages, but this disease is called the silent killer because early symptoms are generally so mild, they’re ignored or rationalized. Please read my short ebook called Are You Listening: A Personal Journal of an Ovarian Cancer Survivor. It’s $.99 on Amazon and ALL proceeds go to www.vickiwelshfund.org to promote awareness. You could save a life!
Aftermath by Joe Reyes Interview & Excerpt
Aftermath
Book 1
Joe Reyes
Genre: Young Adult Post-Apocalyptic
Publisher: Wasteland Press
Date of Publication: April 29, 2016
ISBN: 1681111128
Number of pages: 284
Word Count: 79, 722
Book Description:
Aftermath is a growing series about war, love, brutality and most of all, survival. What was once the United States has become a savage post-apocalyptic environment where the worst of the worst prosper and the remaining good hide.
The series features a brutal setting, where seven characters in different parts of the United States must adapt to this new environment. The "fight or flight" mentality plays into the story, as the nation is divided into factions fighting for control of the country. The government is outnumbered, outgunned, and forced into hiding as well to recoup their forces. The novel follows a fast paced momentum from the first page to the last word. The plot pits these characters against the elements and each other, with plot-lines intertwining on opposite sides of the war effort. And one character's quest for revenge can jeopardize not only the war outcome, but the reshaping of the entire nation.
With an ever-changing storyline and evolving characters, the Aftermath series gets more intense with every chapter. But what these characters don't realize, the terrifying evil is making its way across the ocean.
Excerpt: Sara
“People and beans again?” a raggedy-looking man says as Sara passes him a plate. He glares down, disappointed, at the meal of perfectly cut human flesh and a side dish of green beans. Sara hands out more plates to the group of men huddled around a fire.
“When you guys kill something other than people, you’ll get something else to eat,” she says with a sarcastic smile, walking off.
About the Author:
Joe Reyes has never been afraid to go for what he wants in life. His goal is to be a full time published author and is taking all the steps necessary to make that dream a reality. He hates when he hears about people who give up on their dreams.
His writing style is fast paced. When he wrote his novel Aftermath, he wanted it to feel like a television show. Joe doesn’t like boring descriptions. He finds filler scenes to be a book killer and makes sure that every chapter has an immediate purpose or a purpose later on.
Interview
1.     Where are you from?
I am originally from Brooklyn. My parents decided we should move to New Jersey when I was around 5. I’ve lived in the same house for 21 years now and my hope is to make enough money that my parents can move to a 55 and older community and I can stay in the house I grew up in.
2.     Tell us your latest news?
I’ve been incredibly busy promoting my first novel, Aftermath. I have about 7 different Twitter accounts that I have been using to gather followers and promote my book. I have a website, Facebook and any other social media I’m able to come across.
3.     When and why did you begin writing?
I started back in high school with little short stories and film festival things. Early on, I knew I wanted to be a writer and have been doing everything I can to make sure that happens. I want to make a career out of something I both excel in and am happy doing. I don’t want to be someone who, at the end of their life, was afraid to go for what they wanted and settled.
4.     When did you first consider yourself a writer?
As soon as I decided that this was the career I wanted to pursue. Most people say they want to do something, but I “do” when I want something. Like I said before, I knew early on what I wanted to do and everything since that day has been tailored to that career goal.
5.     What inspired you to write your first book?
Pushing characters to their limit is something I love doing in my writing. There isn’t a better way to push than to have these characters fighting every day for their survival. Originally, Aftermath was just a simple short story I thought of at 1am that I started writing because I couldn’t sleep. Then I combined it with another short story I came up with and created more characters. Eventually, as I flushed out the story more, it became a full-length novel.
6.     Do you have a specific writing style?
I’ve been told my style is very unique. Aftermath doesn’t read like a normal book; it feels like you’re watching a TV show. The story cycles between different characters quickly so I don’t have any filler scenes. There is a fast pace with short chapters and no dull moments. I get bored reading most books, especially when they take forever on descriptions and superfluous character building. I find they tend to drag on.
7.     How did you come up with the title?
The story takes place a few years after the inciting event so Aftermath was a perfect fit for it. Most of the time I come up with a title and then build a story around it.
8.     Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Aftermath shows what would happen if society were to break down and people were forced to rely solely on themselves for survival. It is a scary scenario that I, personally, don’t find too farfetched. Most people react out of fear for their own mortality and the book exploits that using a variety of different characters.
9.     How much of the book is realistic?
I think that if society were to be wiped out, it would start rebuilding in the same way as in the book. Multiple factions would rise up, the government would struggle to rebuild, and leadership would be taken by whoever possesses the most guns. It’s a scary scenario.
10.                        Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Have you ever seen news reports with people rioting and looting? Imagine how badly and selfishly people would react if placed in a life threatening situation. Think about what you would do for food. Would you steal or kill someone? I’ve never been that hungry before, but I’m curious of what I would do in the same situation.
11.                        What books have most influenced your life most?
I’m a big fan of The Hunger Games. I have said before that I’m not a big reader, but I love the style of Suzanne Collins in that series. I like the short descriptions and the story’s fast pace. On the other hand, I hate the style of George RR Martin in A Song of Ice And Fire. I think the characters are too boring at times and the chapters drag on to the point that I can’t help but put the book down.
12.                        If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
I can’t think of any. I don’t read as much as people imagine I do. I’m probably one of the only writers that doesn’t enjoy reading as a hobby. If I picked up a book, it would have to be because of great word of mouth and my own strong desire, rather than loyalty to a single author, even if I have enjoyed a previous work of theirs.
13.                        What book are you reading now?
None whatsoever. I’m not a big reader. I get bored reading books, most of the time, and would rather just watch the movie.
14.                        Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
I don’t know the names of enough authors to really say. I barely read so it’s hard to tell that someone is “new.”
15.                        What are your current projects?
I’m working on creating a superhero universe. I have a list of characters and their powers, so right now I’m working on each of their back stories. I want to give each hero their own book and tie them all in later on.
16.                        What would you like my readers to know?
My approach to writing is out of the ordinary and so is my style. I really want to be unique and stand out from other authors. My interests span all genres and I am always open to and trying new things. When I write I like to push myself to come up with new and out-of-the-box ideas to see what I am able of coming up with. I hope you all enjoy my story and let me know what you think.
Marionettes by Kerry Alan Denney Excerpt & GIVEAWAY
Marionettes
by Kerry Alan Denney
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE: Supernatural thriller

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Resuscitated after he drowns and dies in a flood, David Flint discovers he has returned from the other side with an uncanny ability: He can “jump” into people’s bodies and minds, and control their thoughts and actions.
David believes it's a gift, and wants to use it to help people. Then four members of a ruthless drug ring savagely attack his fiancée and leave her in a coma, and David tries to use his new power to destroy the whole ring. But the ringleader, a voodoo priest known as the Zombie Master, is a formidable man with a deadly secret: He has the same incredible ability as David.
When the two human marionette masters clash in a brutal bloody showdown, using the ring’s members as their puppets, David discovers he’s battling for much more than his life—he’s fighting to rid the world of an evil human abomination.
Marionettes illuminates the greatest achievements of the human spirit and the darkest corridors of our minds, and answers the age-old question: What are the consequences of absolute power?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Excerpt Three:

My head was turned sideways, and I struggled to push myself into a sitting position only to find another sadistic little swordsman was trying to slice his way out of my gut.

“Let me adjust your bed. Take your time, sweetie,” the angel said. She used the bed’s controls to raise it so I could sit up.

The combination of the brutal swordsman in my gut, the vicious little bastards in my throat, and jackhammer-man in my head made me want out of this bad dream. That’s when things got mega-weird: I found myself inexplicably staring down at… me. My face was slack, my features drooping, and my open eyes looked empty and barely aware.

It scared the hell out of me, dream or not.

I saw the angel’s delicate hands gently adjust my shoulders and brush strands of my long dark hair out of my eyes from her perspective, as though her hands were mine.

I’m Cynthia, a nurse, I realized. I have two kids—Johnny and Leah—and a doting husband named Paul who is a wonderful father to our children. I want more than ever to help my patient, David Flint—the subject of much gossip among the second floor nursing staff—to be well and whole again.

“Little pieces, David,” Cynthia said, feeding ice chips from a spoon to the bedridden zombie who looked like me. I worried about the slack look on my face. “Let them melt in your mouth.”

Cynthia knew about Karin’s tragic death, and felt sorry for me at the same time that she felt hopeful for my continued recovery. This screwed with my mind, and because pity is something I can’t tolerate, I found myself jerked out of Cynthia’s perspective and back into my own.

I felt the cool, soothing comfort of the melting ice slide down my throat and wash away some of the little swordsmen. Take that, you bastards. But the pleasant sensation triggered a darker, nasty memory of brackish waters involuntarily swallowed recently.

My body shook with spasms as the memory rose to the surface of my mind and hit me like a sledgehammer blow crushing my skull. The surrounding dark waters engulfed me, and I panicked.

“Can’t… breathe,” I rasped, grabbing Cynthia’s arm. “Save me.”

“Oh honey, you’re remembering, aren’t you?” Cynthia took my hand and set the cup of ice chips on the rotating bedside table.

“Drowning,” I croaked, squeezing her hand. “Save me.”

“No, David, you’re not drowning. You’re in the hospital, safe and alive, and I’m right here with you.”

“Don’t leave me.”

“I’m not going anywhere.”

I looked up into her kind eyes, and saw worry etch lines in her brow. I suddenly remembered the razor-sharp chunk of glass penetrating my gut as I submerged beneath dark waters, unable to stay afloat any longer. That was when I gave in to the merciless deluge, seeing Karin’s face before me as I drowned.

Shot to Hell by Cynthia Rayne Excerpt & Giveaway

Shot to Hell
Cynthia Rayne
(Four Horsemen MC #7)
Publication date: May 9th 2016
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Love thy enemy.
Steele spent his high school years under the Friday night lights in Poteet, Texas. He went from hometown hero to jarhead in a matter of weeks, taking his best buddy, Abe, with him. After Abe died in combat, Steele quit the Corps and became a member of the Four Horsemen MC. Now his brother and best friend, Coyote, has been taken by a rival MC and Steele fears the worst. To save his brother, he calls in Ashton Calhoun. She works as a security contractor and specializes and kicking asses and crossing off names.
As a teenager, Ash fell hard for Steele. But that went south when his carelessness led to Abe’s death. They’re now bitter enemies and there’s plenty of unfinished business between them. Can Ash and Steele find Coyote before it’s too late? And will these enemies become lovers?

EXCERPT:
“Ashton Calhoun,” Steele whispered.
He couldn’t believe it. He hadn’t seen her since Abe’s funeral. Abe Calhoun’s younger twin sister. Abe had been born three minutes earlier, so he’d taken on the role of big brother.
“I ain’t seen you in a month of Sundays.” Steele stood and dragged her along with him.
He examined her more closely in the hazy light. He’d know Ash anywhere, even if she’d changed over the years. She stood about five and a half feet tall with brown hair pinned tight to her head and the same vivid green eyes. Most noticeably, she now had a long jagged scar on the right side from her hairline to chin. While the skin must’ve knit together long ago, it’d left a deep groove in her pretty face.
Ash stared right back at him, studying him. “As I live and breathe, Jack Steele. I thought you looked familiar, but I wondered if my mind was playin’ tricks on me.”

When Misty refuses to stand with them, hell will break loose.

Excerpt
October 31, 1975
Halloween.

The storm was ravenous, ready to devour anything in its path. Lightning flashed wildly across the darkened sky. Misty Quinlin heard branches snap and fall to the ground from the high winds and pouring rain. She wanted to cry out from the pain as the freezing rain pelted into her wounds.
She knew to stop was not an option, it meant eternal death to her soul, she forced herself to continue. Misty needed to find her way out of this dark and dangerous forest that surrounded her if she was to survive.
            She knew the members of the evil coven still lurked somewhere deep in the woods. The only light she had was from the full moon- appearing unlike any she had ever seen. Bright orange, Laura, Misty’s best friend, referred to it as the blood moon that rarely appears. Laura warned that more evil occurs during a blood moon than any other. Lightning continued to flash across the midnight sky, but it was of little help. The trees were tall enough that their branches extended out as far as the eye could see, giving the illusion that the ends of the branches disappeared in the midnight sky.

   Dan stopped at the end of the trail and pointed toward a cavern. Sitting in front of the cavern was a makeshift table of wood and stone. It looked to be well over a hundred years old, but that wasn’t what grabbed his attention. On the table, there was a body, completely naked, and lying spread eagle. Whoever did this cut off his genitals during the gutting and skinning. “I hope you don’t lose your lunch like I did,” Dan said, finally able to speak.

            “Yes the moon…it was a blood moon…a rare moon. It only happens every so often…powerful…very powerful,” the priest muttered to himself, completely lost in thought. A few seconds later, he returned to reality, and began speaking to the detective again. “Satanic worshippers come in all shapes and sizes; they could be your parents, brother, sister, your captain, or even your priest. On the outside, they appear as normal as you or I, but on the inside they are completely evil and full of darkness. Some are witches, others are born and raised in a cult lifestyle, but you may never know because they are very secretive.”
            “So I wouldn’t have any idea at all if I ran into them outside of their devil worshipping?” Norris asked, genuinely concerned that everyone in the world was being fooled by someone who worships the devil.

They argued back and forth until they reached a point where Misty knew that no matter what she did there was no getting away, he was going to do what he wanted.  He became like a wild animal, biting her breasts so hard she screamed out in pain as he placed his hand over her face and squeezed her ribs harder so that she couldn’t move.
      He entered her with such force and began thrusting himself so hard inside her she almost passed out. She could hear him chanting and repeating that she was his and his alone. She was praying for God to help her, while hoping in the back of her mind that this wasn’t happening, praying that it was all a bad dream and she would soon wake up. She was taken back by how angry he had become because of what she and Robbie had done.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPTS (Exclusive Excerpt):
Chapter 15
“Shiray, watch out!” Symone screeched.
I spun and elbowed a female in her throat. She stared dead at me with her dark brown eyes glowing. She smirked, then opened her hand and conjured a flame of fire. I acted quickly and warped her ass with pain. She fell to her knees but was still able to throw the flames. I dodged in the nick of time. Before I could get up, she had another ball ready. Symone drop-kicked her in the head and she was out cold. Wow! Symone had moves. She needed to enlist in our militia. Another male attacked Symone from behind. I didn’t have time to help because two more were on me. And Cessar was brawling with several of his own. A female with blond hair punched me in the mouth. I spit out blood. Then lunged to the ground to retrieve my laser and blasted her. She flew back and landed with a thud. As she took her last breath, the glow around her eyes vanished and her body went limp. A male assailed me fast. The golden glow around his blue irises was blazing. He attempted to shoot me, and I kicked the laser from his hand. He pounced again, and I couldn’t get out of his grasp. He yanked my arm and pinned it behind me, forcing my gun to fall. I yelped. He stood behind me and pulled me against him.
“On second thought, I think I will keep you as a hostage. You’ll be my little treat,” he whispered. His warm breath against my neck gave me the creeps. I tried to mind warp him, but it didn’t work. Huh? That had never happened before.
“Your mind tricks won’t work on me, sweet-tart. I have mind field powers. I can block any warp.”
