Book Description:
Jami – Content with her life
working for a publishing house, enjoying her caffeine addiction and her daily
banter with best friend Todd. Jami wasn’t one to believe in Destiny. When her
world turns upside down just days before her 25th birthday, her beliefs are
challenged and time is ripped away. Dozing off in the sun one moment and
sitting in a field of heather with a talking hamster the next will rattle any
normal girl. But hearing a sexy deep voice and turning to find the Highlander
it belongs to will rock anyone’s world!
Devlin-. He loved the annual
festival, all the hustle and bustle around the keep, what he couldn’t handle
was his mother hounding him about finding that “one” to settle down with as the
middle brother he still had plenty of time. He escaped daily to do his rounds
along the land’s perimeter, but one day he found someone he wasn’t
expecting. One look, one smell was all
it took. He would find out who she was.
Faced with the obstacle of
overcoming her fears and embracing her powers, Jami’s destiny is hers to take.
Or is it?

Interview
Where
are you from? I currently live in Portland, Tn but
grew up in Lomax, IL.
Tell
us your latest news? I am diligently writing on Book 2 in
the Destiny Series, but am excited to share I have started another paranormal
series that book one of will be out by next Christmas. This one is based in New
Orleans, involves cat shifters and descendants of a voodoo queen.
When
and why did you begin writing? I have written since
high school, but I really started thinking about making it a career for the
last three years. I began writing after a good author friend advised me, write
the story you want to read.
When
did you first consider yourself a writer? When I finished
and won my first NaNoWriMo. When I proved to myself I could write 50,000 words
in a month, I knew that I could officially call myself a writer. Though now I
look back and realize that I was a writer way before then, I wrote all the
time. Stories, journal entries, poems, etc. I just had to get over that
personal hurdle, and I am so glad I did.
What
inspired you to write your first book? Getting to know so
many indie authors and realizing that if they can do it, I can do it. So I did,
I stopped ignoring the character voices in my head and started writing down
what they were saying. It snowballed from there. With the help of an amazing
team of editors, graphic artist, and the best beta readers around I completed
the novel and published it this last October.
Do
you have a specific writing style? Not really, I do some
planning, but most of what I write happens when I sit down and write from the
seat of my pants. The planning is simply character outlines, location, and
family trees.
How
did you come up with the title? The title came to me
after I had written the book. As I was revising I realized I referenced Jami’s
destiny a lot, so of course the title evolved into Destiny Finds Her.
Is
there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
No message, I just want readers to be able to sit back and enjoy escaping into
a world I created. I enjoy reading for that simple reason, I can escape my day
to day life, troubles, issues, and dive into a world that has been created for
me.
How
much of the book is realistic? None of it is real, Jami
is based on myself a bit I guess, she gets paid to read and evaluate books
which is something I would love to be able to do. Some characters came to me
from books, movies, and shows that I have watched.
Are
experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Not in this book.
What
books have most influenced your life most? Oh good
question, the two that made an impact the most are Why the Caged Bird Sings by
Maya Angelou and Heart of Darkness by
Joseph Conrad.
If
you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Oh I have more than one! Deena Remiel, Amber Scott, and Terry Maggert. I
consider them all to be mentors. I know that if I have a question, idea, or
just want to chat I can contact them. They have all helped me in so many ways!
What
book are you reading now? Seventh Grave and No Body by
Darynda Jones.
Are
there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Hmm, I don’t know how new they are but I have just recently discovered Demelza
Carlton and Staci Hart. Love them both!
What
are your current projects? I am currently working on Book 2
in the Destiny series as well as a new Paranormal series based in New Orleans.
What
would you like my readers to know?
That
I am so grateful that they took the time to stop by and check out this
interview. I hope that they take the chance, grab the book and enjoy the world
I have created for Jami and Devlin. There is a lot more in store for them in
Book 2. Also I love hearing from readers so email me, tweet me, or stop by the
facebook page. I love chatting with everyone.
Thank you for having me and I hope that you enjoy a
