Leila Hassan Al-Nadir spent ten years in a forced, abusive marriage in the United Arab Emirates, before her husband divorced her...and another man stepped into his place to make her his wife. But before she can look at a future with this new man, he abandons her, dropping her off on the island of Mauritius in the care of his stepmother.
Khalid Al-Nadir wants nothing more than to be with Leila, his wife. But he hides a deep, dark secret—his intentions when he made her his weren’t noble. Despite falling in love with her in the end, he knows she will be better off without him.
Leila craves answers; Khalid desires salvation. Fate, in the form of Khalid’s stepmother, intervenes and sets this estranged couple up for a one night stand date with Madame Eve’s agency.
Can Leila and Khalid have a second chance, once they both face the truth that brought them together?

About the author:
Official Bio: (Amazon)
Stories about love, life, relationships... in a melting-pot of culture
Zee is an author who grew up on a fence - on one side there was modernity and the global world, on the other there was culture and traditions. Putting up with the culture for half of her life, one day she decided she'd stand tall on her wall and dip toes every now and then into both sides of her non-conventional upbringing.
From this resolution spanned a world of adaptation and learning to live on said wall. The realization also came that many other young women of the world were on their own fence.
This particular position became her favorite when she decided to pursue her lifelong dream of writing - her heroines all sit 'on a fence', whether cultural or societal, in today's world or in times past, and face dilemmas about life and love.
Hailing from the multicultural island of Mauritius, Zee is a degree holder in Communications Science. She is married, mum to a tween son, & stepmum to a teenage lad.
....Behind-the-scenes look at the author:
I'm an author; a wife still in love with her husband after a decade together (and Lord knows how we haven't strangled each other in the meantime!); an in-over-her-head, perfectly-flawed and imperfect mum to a tween boy; a best-buddy stepmum to a teenage lad; a total bookaholic and book junkie with an exponentially growing TBR pile; an incompetent housewife desperate to channel Bree van de Kamp & Nigella Lawson (and failing miserably!)...
...That being said, I'm 29 years old and I hail from the multicultural, rainbow-nation island of Mauritius, in the southern Indian Ocean. Recently, I became the holder of a BA in Communications Science, but the corporate world has no grip over me because I tried that life and found I was totally allergic to office politics, one-upmanship and the back-stabbing culture prevalent in Corporate today. I gladly settled to become a SAHM when my son was born.
Since then, the call of words and the prospect of meeting handsome, passionate heroes in between pages of a book have lured me with their siren song, and I've never been happier.
I love meeting people and making new friends (and if you give me feedback on my books, all the better!). Don't hesitate to get in touch with me!

My Review:
I love the 1 Night Stand Series, and these authors never cease to amaze me with new ideas and plots. They are short, sexy reads that all center around the 1 Night Stand dating service that Madame Eve owns. Madame Eve is very intuitive about couples and true love. She has a knack for pairing up the right couples. What is even funnier (the couple sometimes doesn't agree) is that Madame Eve will let people set up their friends and family for a 1 night stand.
This installment of the series was definitely different because it dealt with a part of the world that I have never been too, and do not know that much about. However Leila was abused by her husband, and was in an unhappy marriage. Her father sold her to a loser, and she was stuck because she was a woman. This got me mad. I wanted to take her father and husband and punish them the way that they punished her.
Arranged marriages are often for a reason. The reason Leila was sold was to produce an heir. However when she doesn't she gets abused. Her husband has enemies, and they will stop at nothing for revenge.
To stop her abusive husband from controlling her again, Leila marries Khalid. Only after 1 night together he leaves her. She doesn't know why. It takes an intervention by a friend to get them to talk to each other, but will they both be willing to listen to their hearts and let the past stay where it is? Are they both going to stay the night when the secrets come out?
I am giving the story a 5/5. The ending was a 5/5 itself. I really did not see these two people ending up like they did, but the author makes it work!
I was given a copy to review from Night Owl Reviews, however all opinions are my own!
