The Dragonath Chronicles Book One: The Lost Heir by Andi O'Connor

The Dragonath Chronicles Book One: The Lost Heir
Always a meticulous planner, Darrak Hunter leads a typically dull life until his dreams unexpectedly become plagued with visions of a peculiar and distant world.  Waking up to a brilliant purple sun looming ominously in the sky, Darrak is met by a mysterious violet-eyed sorcerer who whisks him away from the struggling Earth.
Thrown into the clutches of a foreign world where magic is reality and not all is as it seems, Darrak embarks on a journey where he is forced to come to terms with his past and do what he can to shape the future.  Accompanied by a talented swordswoman, a prince, and a beautiful young sorceress, he must overcome cunning plots of treachery and betrayal to discover the strength to stand against a destructive black magic and an enemy who is a master at deception.

On the fun side...
I am a writer, a daydreamer, and an avid reader and book lover. I absolutely adore Elves, and I am genuinely distressed that they do not exist. I love hand-writing letters, and I am a firm believer that receiving said letter is one of the best forms of therapy available. I love physical books, none of this newfangled ebook stuff. I love vinyl records and Jameson (neat). I am captivated by Lord of the Rings in all shapes, sizes, and forms. British Comedies are my main form of visual entertainment, though The Lord of the Rings and Notre Dame football finish a close second. I am an avid ballet dancer, and I am convinced that if everyone took ballet, the world would be a much more joyous place.

My Review:
I loved the world that the author created. To be taken away from Earth and everything that the character has known as true was interesting to read about. I liked the purple sky and it reminded me of Mars being red, only instead of aliens this purple world is a kingdom set in the past. Darrak has to come to terms that his dreams were real, before he has no future to return to. The ending was not to my liking. It was a cliffhanger, and that cost it a star. I also felt as though there was more to the wolves that will be explained in a later book. All in all this was a pretty good book that I was very interested in. I am giving this book a 4/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.
I also want to mention that the magic in this new world was also interesting and I was rooting for the sorceress and the prince. The swordplay was also worth the read.
