My Review:

In my opinion this book was Big Brother meets Judge Dredd. The government has total control, and is led by robots. There is a lot of Dystopia in this book. What I liked was that it was true to life for me.  The characters had slang and used what I thought teenagers in this world would. The have their own version of  internet lingo (they have their own version of omg), and they come from all different classes. Some are poor, and some are rich. There are bad jobs, and good jobs.

There is also a struggle for power. Will Rena and her friends have the power to change the oppressive government? How long will they stay monotonous before they get sick of the same thing every day?

I liked that there were special abilities in this book, and that they were controlled by emotions. It was interesting to read about Rena trying to rein in her emotions and control her powerful gift. I liked that the friends had each others back. However at times they questioned how much they would do, and how much they would go against the Overlord. 

I did wonder why no one overtook the overlord, and how come people with special abilities didn't band their power together to get rid of the overlord. Once the overlord finds out about Rena and her crew, he still has limited power. This did not seem right to me, but then again I am not the author and it is her vision not mine.

Once Rena gets close to what she wants she realizes a lot about herself, and she wonders if the power will go to her head. I thought that maybe there would be a council of overlords with shared power from all different classes. That seemed more fair to me, rather than someone new getting ultimate power. Who will fill the overlord's shoes? Will Rena remember where she came from before it is too late? Will the people in the "bad part of town" improve their income? 

I would like to see the market described more. The items sold, to and from who, and how they were used would be really interesting to read for me.

I did not care for the ending and all the unfinished business, however if the author explains it all in the next book and makes this a series then I will be willing to read it.
