Degrees of Courage by Shari Vester book review!

My Great Aunt Came to America from Italy on a boat. She came with her mom alone because her dad was already here. They were strong women. That is what this book is about. Strong women doing whatever they need to do to take care of their families. Even more so because of when these women took care of their families. War is never easy for anyone, and freedom is not free. These woman had to overcome obstacles that many of us can only imagine. If they were here today and I asked them if they thought that they were courageous they would probably laugh and say that they were just doing what was best for their loved ones. The book starts with Angela. She is the oldest child in the family of 9 kids. Her mom died after losing a tenth baby. She has to take on the role of mother to the children, especially the young ones. The older ones go against her at every chance they get. She is not their mother. The book goes on from there through the years. The book follows Angela and her family members. I don't want to give to much away, but I will say this.... This book reminds me of how strong women can be, when needed. In an uncertain time, war and death, this book shows us what goes on to the families that are affected. I really liked it and I am giving it a 5/5 and recommend it to anyone who has a strong mom! It made me realize that mothers make sacrifices.
I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own!
