Interview

Author Name: Mary Sage Nguyen
Date of Interview: 7-9-2015

Where are you from?
I am from Dallas, Texas.

Tell us your latest news?
I am writing the sequel to The Malevolent Twin and plan on publishing it soon.

When and why did you begin writing?
I began writing at twenty three years old, because it was fun, and I wanted to change my routine. Do something different, and productive. Something that would make me rich in mind, and soul.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
When I shared my ebook which, I first published with smashwords. A family member called thrilled, that I was now a published author. Once, I got approval from my family. I knew, I was a wordsmith. Too be honest, my dad’s recognition was the best of all. I shoved my book in his face, after a recent visit home, and he was shocked! His infatuation with my book, was the best part about writing.

What inspired you to write your first book?
My muse, and my deceased mother. I wanted to make her immortal, somehow. A book was the perfect way. This is why I dedicated The Malevolent Twin to her.

Do you have a specific writing style?
I write narratives (third person point of view). The reason being is when I first start writing in the first person perspective my muse despised it. He constantly kept encouraging me to write in third person.

How did you come up with the title?
I will be honest, I chose the title The Malevolent Twin after writing the book, and having it completed. The pervious title was Dripping Caramel. Which makes absolutely no sense with book’s overall theme. I just liked the title at the time…..

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
In the story Venice, is constantly being disrespected by Avery. Be kind to your siblings, you share a bond no one else does.

How much of the book is realistic?
The Majority of The Malevolent Twin is realistic. The only part where you have to suspend disbelief is 3d body breathing on it’s own in the tail end.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Probably, Amanda Hocking. She knows her niche, and was able to make it as a self-published author.

What book are you reading now?
I just finished reading Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan. A very entertaining read. It was exactly what I thought it would be. My favorite scene was when the women squeeze together in an elevator, to score on counterfeit purses. I am also about to read The Everything Guide to Private Investigation.

What are your current projects?
Mai’s Exuberance, Pennie Apples: Deleted Chapter, and sequel to The Malevolent Twin

What would you like my readers to know?
I am twenty three years old and
Feel free to give me some feedback on my books!
