About the Author-
Liz DeJesus was born on the tiny island of Puerto Rico. She is a novelist and a poet. She has been writing for as long as she was capable of holding a pen. She is the author of the novel Nina (Blu Phi'er Publishing, October 2007), The Jackets (Arte Publico Press, March 2011) First Frost (Re-realeased through Indie Gypsy Summer 2015), Glass Frost (Re-released through Indie Gypsy Summer 2015), Shattered Frost (Indie Gypsy, Summer 2015) and Morgan (Indie Gypsy, July 2014). Her work has also appeared in Night Gypsy: Journey Into Darkness (Indie Gypsy, October 2012), Twice Upon a Time (Bearded Scribe Press, Winter 2015) and Someone Wicked (Smart Rhino Publications, Winter 2013).

Interview:
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Marissa Meyer is one of my new favorite authors. She’s the
author of the Lunar Chronicles, it includes Cinder,
Scarlet, Cress & Winter. They are all sci-fi versions of Cinderella,
Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Snow White. The entire series is amazing and I
highly recommend her books.
What are your current projects?
I’m currently working on book #4 of The Frost Series, it’s
tentatively titled Ruby Frost. I’m also working on a collection of short
stories titled Tales from Everafter which will include additional backstory to
some of the minor characters in The Frost Series. For example, what happened to
David (Bianca’s father)? What was the Snow Queen’s reaction to Bianca’s arrival
to Everafter? What did Snow White really do while she hid from Queen Mirabel in
the cottage? So it will be a lot of fun exploring that side of Everafter.
I’m also working on another collection of short stories titled
Mugshots. The series is mainly inspired by a series of illustrations by artist
Marilen Androver where some of the fairy tale princesses get arrested for a
series of crimes. And I thought it would be a lot of fun to give a backstory to
each illustration.
Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family
members.
My best friend Kristen. She is an amazing friend and we’ve
known each other for over 14 years and she is the one person outside of my
family that has been supportive of my writing. Although at this point she’s
more like family than anything else. She is incredibly kind, talented and

But I am very lucky and blessed to have an amazing family and
tight knit circle of friends that are supportive of my career.
Do you see writing as a career?
Absolutely. Not only do I write fiction, but I also write
articles and go to libraries and schools to run workshops and teach people
about the art of writing. It may not be a career in a traditional sense but I
definitely see it as a career.
If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything
in your latest book?
I wouldn’t change a single thing about my career. Everything
that has happened to me good and bad has been a learning experience.
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
It definitely started because my mother was a writer and I
remember being inspired to write because I wanted to be just like her. I
realized that I actually LIKED to write. So I stuck with it for many years and
then when I was 13 years old I got into writing poetry. When I was 18 years old
I decided that I would try my hand at writing a novel, so I read everything I could
get my hands on. Lots of instructional books on creative writing, how to write
dialogue, etc. It took many years old trial and error but I learned by working
with other professional authors and amazing editors that taught me what I was
doing right and what I needed to work on.
What would you like to tell my readers?
I just want to say thank you to everyone for taking a chance on
my books. And to everyone that has already read my work, my heartfelt thanks
for your support and for taking the time to read my books.
