Book Description:
Ryland and Ryker Blackwood were
twins. Identical, thigh clenching bear shifter twins who had no trouble getting
women into their beds. Or bed. They’d shared just about everything in life,
even women.
The scent of the cat shifter they
found on their construction site was driving both Blackwood brothers crazy with
lust. Or was it? Every time they thought they were getting closer to finding
the woman who would be their mate, one of their bears backed away. The hot and
cold feeling they were getting from their animals was confusing the shit out of
them.
Was the cat shifter meant for one
of them or both of them?
Excerpt:
They were mates,
but mates who knew almost nothing about each other. Ryland knew better than to
rush her, so he eased into the kiss, tilting her head and aligning their
mouths. His bear huffed at each hitch and shudder of her breath as he deepened
their connection. His senses were attuned to every subtle movement her body
made in response to his touch and he gloried in the shiver that ran though her
and the softening of her body as she gave into her needs and leaned into him.
About
the Author:
Marie Mason has loved writing and
reading her whole life. Everyone knows when you start to hear voices in your
head, you’er destined to be admitted to the nearest mental ward—or become a
writer. Marie decided to become writer instead of waiting for the men in white
coats to come carry her away. She loves
books about alpha males and especially alpha males who just happened to be a
demon, wolf or a bear.
Interview
Tell us your latest news?
The next (last?) in the Blackwood Brothers series is
out – Bear and Bear Alike. This is the story of the twin alpha bears – Ryland
and Ryker Blackwood. An elusive cat shifter is giving the boys a very difficult
time.
When and why did you begin writing?
I think all writers are born storytellers. It takes
a push to go from thinking of stories in your head to writing them—and
sometimes it’s dang difficult to make the transition. I’ve been writing for a
few years now and why? Honestly, because eraders have made it possible for
indie authors to get their stories out. What’s the use of writing a story if no
one ever reads it? My dust bunnies have enough work to do as it is.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I’ve been writing for years and do consider myself a
writer now that my stories are available to readers. So about a year ago.
What inspired you to write your first book?
The need to hush all the voices in my head. It’s dangerous
when you’re driving down the road not paying attention because of the scene
playing out in your head. I figured I should probably pull over and write it
down.
Do you have a specific writing style?
Nope. Just write whatever words come out of my fingertips.
I’m not a learned writer. I get lost in my characters and let them flow – then
go back and take out the crap that makes me say – where the heck did that come
from?
How did you come up with the title?
The title usually works itself out in the end. You’ll
write a line that just calls to you, or you’ll do enough word association until
you get the right combination of words for a pretty good title. My husband
actually came up with the title of Bear and Bear Alike. He’s getting better at
listening to me and “getting the idea”.
Is there a message in your novel that you want
readers to grasp?
The message in Bear and Bear Alike is simple – go
after what you love and don’t be afraid to sacrifice something in order to have
it. We sacrifice every day—usually for someone else –it’s time to do something
for yourself.
How much of the book is realistic?
Umm, well, not a lot, unless of course, there are
bear and cat shifters living among us. But, on the other hand, most of it is
realistic—it’s the story of girl meets boy, boy acts like an ass (LOL)
Are experiences based on someone you know, or events
in your own life?
I think writing romance is all about coincidence –
how many of us really went out to look for the love of our life? Not many. They
usually come into your life when you need them to.
What books have most influenced your life most?
Romances. Many would say I don’t have a romantic
bone in my body, but that’s not true. It’s just difficult sometimes to express that
romance in “real life.” That’s what I love about writing—between the pages of
my books, I can do anything!
If you had to choose, which writer would you
consider a mentor?
The older ones! I grew up reading Harlequin and Silhouette
romances. Today’s romance has some added elements—paranormal and erotic to name
two—but at the core of every book is the story of a man and a woman falling in
love.
What book are you reading now?
Not many, I’m trying to write, write write. But I
have been filling my kindle with Christmas stories in anticipation of taking the
week of Christmas off and reading until I can’t stand another story
Are there any new authors that have grasped your
interest?
I love the authors who make curvy girls their
heroines. I’m a bigger girl and want to read about the angsts that happens in
my life – not that I broke my nail trying to fix my pretty blonde hair.
What are your current projects?
I’m trying to finish three shorts – maybe in time
for Christmas – Wolf’s Claim, Wolf’s Desire and Wolf’s Destiny. They revolve
around a Holiday Ball where wolves and witches come to find their destined
mates. Of course, other supernaturals come calling…
After that, in my head is percolating a series
reminiscent of the Breeds by Lori Leigh and New Species by Loran Donher. And
that’s mainly for selfish reasons – I need some more of those types of books to
read. But, that’s a very difficult story line since it has been done in such
terrific ways by both of these ladies.
Maybe Santa will bring me some new story ideas for
Christmas.
