Interview
Where are you from?
East Texas.
Tell us your latest
news?
I’ve started the second book in my new series, The Heroes of
The Dixie Wardens MC.
When and why did you
begin writing?
I started writing a year and a half ago when my mom made me
read her favorite book of all time. I
hated it. In fact, I hated it so much
that I told her I could do better than that.
So I wrote Boomtown and let her read it.
She encouraged me to publish it, even though I never intended to do so.
When did you first
consider yourself a writer?
I had a very inspiring woman message me. She told me that I’d helped her survive her
chemo treatments. She said I made her
laugh, which the nurses that worked on that floor never saw smiling faces. That moment in time is what made me feel that
my books were out there, and even in some cases making people’s lives
easier. Which is what any author
wants. For their readers to escape
reality for a small while.
What inspired you to
write your first book?
My mom. She needed to
understand how a romance should
be. I set out to show her that. :)
Do you have a
specific writing style?
I’ve been told I have a conversational writing style. That I write like I speak.
How did you come up
with the title?
Shiloh is one of those women that come into your life and
take it over. She has a very out there
personality, and she takes shit from nobody.
I remember thinking to myself that she was like a whirlwind, and Texas
Tornado just seemed to fit her.
Is there a message in
your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Family through thick and thin. Family is worth fighting for. Everyone’s family is different. Some could be blood relations, while others are
just very good friends that will always be there for them through
anything. That is what the Free family
is. A bunch of men who became brothers
through some very tough times, and pulled what was left of their own blood
family into the fold, making a tight knit group of people that would do
absolutely anything for each other.
How much of the book
is realistic?
I’m inspired by daily events. Many of the little day to day activities are
something that I do, or have done. A lot
of the book is a lot more realistic than one would think.
Are experiences based
on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Oh, yes! My family
likes to joke that they ‘can’t do anything wrong’ or it’ll go into Lani’s next
book to be ‘forever memorialized!’
What books have most
influenced your life most?
Julie Garwood and Linda Howard are two of the most prominent
romance authors in the business. I’ve
read every single book by those two over and over again. I strive to one day have that sort of sway
over the romance land. That would be the
ultimate accomplishment.
Kristen Ashley is also a big influence for all
self-published authors. She gives us
hope.
If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a
mentor?
Jessie Lane has given me so much advice, support, and a
shoulder to lean on. I am truly blessed
that she found me.
What book are you
reading now?
Captain’s Fury by Jim Butcher
What would you like
my readers to know?
In August, I’ll be starting school again, so my writing, as
well as my response time may slow down.
However, I’m still going to be writing, so be patient with me! As always, if anyone wants to get in contact
with me, Facebook is the way to go. I’ll
always answer you!Tour-Wide Giveaway Information:
