Wedding novel.
Delaney
McFarland is on the hunt for a husband—preferably one who needs her
embarrassingly large dowry more than a dutiful wife. After the unspeakable
incident at her debut, Delaney knows marrying for love is off the table, but a
marriage of convenience—one that leaves her free to live the life she
chooses—is the next best thing, never mind what that arrogant, devilishly
handsome Mr. Croft thinks. Delaney plans to marry for money … or not at all.
Ever since
the fiery redhead burst into his life—in a most memorable way—Griffin Croft
hasn't been able to get Miss McFarland out of his mind. Now, with the maddening
woman determined to hand over her fortune to a rake, Griffin knows he must step
in. He must help her. He must not kiss her. But when Griffin's noble intentions
flee in a moment of unexpected passion, his true course becomes clear: tame
Delaney's wild heart and save her from a fate worse than death … a life without
love.

Author Info
I fell in
love with fairy tales and the romance behind happily ever after at a very young
age. Like a lot of you, I tweaked the fables bit by bit in my imagination until
they suited me perfectly. By the time I was eleven, a teacher encouraged me to
start writing.
Throughout
the years that followed, my teachers remained my most fervent supporters,
giving me the tools I needed to continue my journey as a writer.
My husband
and I have two teenage boys, who are heroes in their own right. For now, we
live in a small Midwestern town near Lake Michigan…until a time in the future
when a new adventure calls us to other shores.
I am
currently working on my next novel, but I always enjoy hearing from my
readers. Feel free to email me at vivienne@vivlorret.net
Interview:
Where are
you from?
First of all, thank you for having me here today!
I’ve lived in Northern Indiana for most of my life—a hop
away from Notre Dame University (Go Irish!), a skip from Lake Michigan, and a
jump from Chicago.

Finding Miss McFarland,
the third book in The Wallflower Wedding
Series, is out!
At last, Delaney McFarland earns her own story. It begins
with the infamous “incident” that ruins her chances to make a suitable match.
However, a year later, Delaney comes up with a plan to find a husband—suitable
or not—and to live the life of her choosing.
Griffin Croft sees Delaney’s plan as impulsive and
reckless. In his opinion, she needs someone to warn her away from the penniless
Lord Montwood. Yet, Griffin’s noble intentions burn to ash in a moment of
unexpected passion. Now, he can’t get enough of her. The last thing he expects
is to lose her.
Also, I have more good news. I just signed a three-book
contract with Avon Impulse! Yay!! I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to write
The Rakes of Fallow Hall series.
The Rakes of Fallow Hall
vow never to marry. They all want to avoid that particular noose. Yet, after a
foolhardy wager one night, a sudden rivalry begins. Now, with a fortune and
pride on the line, it’s every man for himself.
Then, one by one, they
all start to fall. A single question remains: who will reap the spoils in the
end?
When and
why did you begin writing?
I was eleven when an amazing teacher encouraged me to
write in order to cope with a difficult trial in my life. I’ve been writing
ever since.
When did
you first consider yourself a writer?
Even though I used to write short stories for my friends during
my high school years, “the moment” that stands out happened later. I was in
class when my college professor called me out into the hall to introduce me to
a colleague, saying simply, “And this is my writer.”
Years and years later, I still smile at the memory.
What
inspired you to write your first book?
A dream. One morning, I woke up with a story idea in my
head. For years, I’d written plenty of short stories, but this was bigger. There
was no way I could fit this multi-layered romance in a few short pages. So, I
answered the call of my own personal challenge and wrote my first 100k-word
novel.
To this day, that first book remains my sister’s
favorite.
Do you have
a specific writing style?
Mostly, I’d say the words come out informally. Then, as
the story evolves, description sets a frame around them, keeping the words from
spilling off the pages.
How did you
come up with the title?
Once I knew Delaney’s name and the general gist of her
story, the title fell into place.
Is there a
message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Throughout the book, Delaney undervalues herself. She’s
willing to marry in name only and forgo any possibility of love because she
believes that’s all she’s worth—money. It takes a lot of effort for her to
conquer this self-image.
While I didn’t write Finding
Miss McFarland with a message in mind, it would be nice if readers took
away a feeling of being worthy of everything life has to offer, especially love.
How much of
the book is realistic?
Historically, women have been traded like currency to
unite families in marriage. That was a thought running through my head as
Delaney’s story started to take shape. While I’ve taken liberties with many
things, the foundation of the book was based on that.
Are
experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
No.
What books
have most influenced your life most?
Tough question. I’ve read a lot of amazing books. The
titles that first pop into my head, are books that I’ve read during
particularly meaningful times in my life. Are
You There God, It’s Me, Margaret by Judy Blume; The Poetry of Robert Frost; Dandelion
Wine by Ray Bradbury; Blue-Eyed
Devil by Lisa Kleypas… the list goes on and on.
What would
you like my readers to know?
Most of all, that I’m incredibly grateful for the
opportunity, not only to have this interview with you today, but to have these
books published. I’m so thankful to the readers who’ve given The Wallflower Wedding Series a chance.
