Hi everyone! It’s Melissa from the Jessie Lane duo, and today I’ve stopped by Deal Sharing Aunt’s today for a chat. HI there wonderful interviewer! Thanks for having me.

Where are you from? Originally I hail from North Carolina, but currently I reside in Minnesota.

Tell us your latest news? We just published the second book in the Star series, The Frozen Star. Its starts just where The Burning Star left off and takes you further into their world as Kira and Kay fight to survive.

When and why did you begin writing? I first started writing when I was in middle or high school, but I didn’t really pursue it until a few years ago.

When did you first consider yourself a writer? When I first started writing music lyrics and poetry in school.

What inspired you to write your first book? My husband actually. He kept telling me to do what I wanted to do and not to let anyone tell me I couldn’t do it. He has supported me from day one and is the best person to bounce my ideas off of.

Do you have a specific writing style? I tend to write more descriptive scenes than conversational ones, plus my writing is a bit darker than my co-author Crystal’s.

How did you come up with the title? The title is actually something Crystal came up with. Each book is named after its main character, how they tie into a certain family affiliation via a certain nautical star birthmark, and their ability or fae power. The Burning Star is for Kay and her scorching fire while the The Frozen Star represents Kay’s freezing touch.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp? Change is something not to be feared but to be faced head on and that you don’t have to tackle it on your own.

What would you like my readers to know? In case you missed the announcement made on the Jessie Lane website, I’ve decided to depart from Jessie Lane to pursue other things. Right now I am currently working on a few solo projects and a collaboration with my brother. I am starting my own romantic comedy that I am aiming for the first two books to be out by fall and a zombie apocalypse novel which will be the first in the trilogy, will be available soon.
