Summer has finally arrived,
along with a boy who will forever change the life of fourteen-year-old Callie.
After growing up hearing stories about Tristan Trevosier and his famous family,
Callie finally meets him when he spends the summer on Martha's Vineyard.
Seventeen-year-old Tristan is a hurricane of destruction and rebellion, and he
quickly blows a hole right into Callie's sheltered life. Callie sees a side of
Tristan that he doesn't show anyone else. She's determined to make everyone see
what she sees in him.
Callie defies her parents by leaving the island with Tristan. But when his ugly habits rear their head, Callie realizes maybe she's the one who's wrong about him. He's beyond her help. But it's too late for her to walk away. This summer, she learns that love can be stronger than reason.

Guest Post January 6—Seasons in the Sun
I’ve lived in two major touristy areas in my life—Cape Cod
and Las Vegas. The two places couldn’t be more different, and I think they are
the perfect settings to represent the two main characters in Seasons in the Sun and tomorrow Because the Night, Callie and Tristan.
Seasons in the Sun takes place on Martha’s Vineyard, on
Callie’s turf. Many of us think of vacation homes for celebrities when we think
about the island. Because of this, it’s easy to assume that Callie is a
spoiled, rich brat. Everyone forgets about the people who make that world go
‘round. Callie’s parents are extremely working class. Her dad does landscaping
and her mom owns a café that Callie works in.
I’m a graduate of Cape Cod Community College, and I’m
embarrassed to tell you how many years it took me to make that claim. I also
went to cosmetology school on the Cape, and worked at the Cape Cod Mall for
more years that I’ll ever admit. I don’t know the people with vacation homes, unless
they hire me to do makeup for their daughter’s weddings. I wrote about the
people I knew about, the blue collar workers. The waitresses, bartenders,
hairdressers, and store clerks. I find these people more fascinating than
people who took the expected path. I always wanted to know about what drove
them to make the decisions they did, and how they lived.
Life works a little differently on the Cape, I can’t quite
explain it, but a hair stylist friend who moved from New York City to the Cape
refers to it as “Planet Cape Cod.”
Callie’s been very isolated her whole life, so it was natural to choose
the most out of the way place for her to live, Martha’s Vineyard.
Callie’s mother makes sure that Callie lives life through
her point of view, which is easy for her to control, until Tristan and his twin
sister come and stay next door one summer. Callie and Tristan are fascinated by
each other, their differences, and how they fill a void in each other’s lives.
Callie doesn’t really care that Tristan fits the bill of someone who can afford
a vacation house, she’s far more interested in him as a person. There’s something about him she’s not familiar with: danger.
Even though she should know better, she can’t get enough.
In Seasons in the Sun, Callie learns that there’s life
beyond what her mother wants it to be. But for now, she’s too young to do much
of anything about it.
