Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's timeless creation returns in a series of handsomely designed detective stories, encapsulating the most varied and thrilling cases of the world's greatest detective. After a mysterious schooner runs aground in an English harbor with no human passengers -- only the dead captain, drained of blood -- a series of bizarre nocturnal crimes takes place in London. It can only be the work of Count Dracula, and only one man can save the city: the world’s greatest detective, Sherlock Holmes.
My Review:
When I saw that this story combined Dracula and Sherlock Holmes I thought that it was an interesting idea. To take two of literature's well known characters and put them in the same book seemed like it would be a hit to me. The setting (London), the characters, and of course the vampire killings were great to read. I am a huge Stephen Kind fan, and of course I like vampire stories. Then in comes Sherlock Holmes to solve the killings. I really enjoyed this book. It made me wonder what other great literature pairs are out there that are yet to be written. What if Sherlock Holmes was able to investigate Jack the Ripper? Which after reading the book and looking at the rest of the series I realized that they already have. Sherlock Holmes The Whitechapel Horrors is about Sherlock Holmes solving the identity of Jack the Ripper (which I really want to read now). Or how about Psycho? I would love to see Sherlock Holmes deal with Leland Gaunt from Needful Things. I was so happy that I decided to read this book. Watson was my favorite. He is such a good supporting character. Sherlock would be lost without him. There is a Jekyll & Hyde book as well as one that takes place aboard Titanic as well. I would love to read Watson's reaction to an iceberg. The book was accurate for Sherlock's language and for the language of Sherlock that I am accustomed to . I really liked this book, especially the end. I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review from Night Owl Reviews, however all opinions are my own. This is definitely going to be a series that I follow.
