BIND & KEEP ME by Cari Silverwood Giveaway

BIND AND KEEP ME
How far would you go to protect your love and your life?

When two deaths turn his world upside down, Klaus must wrestle with a problem that goes soul deep. With Jodie it was capture fantasy but now he’s made the fantasy real, dragging her along as his accomplice. No one should feel so good about something so wrong.

Maybe his soul is darker than he feared. Maybe the rules shouldn't apply to him.

Explicit Excerpt
“I’m not yours.” Her answer was quiet and tremulous.

Such bravery in the face of overwhelming superiority.

I stopped with my palm pressing her upper back down onto the mattress. Enough pressure that she could feel my strength, enough so that she tensed and then, as I didn’t relent, she gave in, her head lowering, her body quivering. Was she a true submissive? I was fairly certain she was. (omitted rest)

GUEST POST
Writing Capture Fantasy Stories
This Pierced Hearts series, which began with Take Me, Break Me, is a bit of a new direction for me. I’ve been writing BDSM romances since 2010 yet capture fantasy has more of a place in my reading history than either BDSM or romance. I’ve never been a romance reader but I’ve always gotten a thrill out of those books that featured women being captured/ kidnapped/ abducted. Though I pretty much dodged reading any bodice rippers due to those being heavily romance, I did read the long-running Gor series.
I’ve since discovered that many in the BDSM lifestyle have also read this series and other books with this theme, such as those by Sharon Green.
The reason for this is to me pretty obvious. Capture fantasy is a manifestation of Dominance and submission which is the foundation of many BDSM relationships. Some people even roleplay rape fantasy scenes, or slave and Master fantasies, or even the burglar encountering the scantily clad woman in the bedroom scenario – married couples, some of these, I should add, as well as some who aren’t. Though I’ve heard some wives grumble that their husbands aren’t keen on wearing a balaclava. To each their own, as it’s said. I’d get the giggles doing something like that.
So, anyway, capture fantasy is common for women – stressing the fantasy there. It was a pretty easy switch for me to progress to writing in this dark erotic genre/ subgenre. As I wrote this book – Bind and Keep Me – I discovered there are boundaries these stories impose on the writer.
Problem One was that romance is a lot harder to engineer. If she’s forever unwilling to say she even wants to have a relationship with him, how can you have romance?
So in bodice ripper terminology, if she’s forever going, “Oh no, Rupert! I can never love you! Get your dirty nasty hands off me!” And then fainting or whatever…romance is difficult to develop.
In ye olde bodice ripper, the heroine gradually comes around and goes, “my goodness me, I do love you, Bertrand!” But in Bind and Keep Me, I wanted dubious consent all the way through the story. This made it near impossible to inject in any romance. Near…impossible. You’ll have to read to see if I did manage it.
Problem Two was that the black moment becomes distorted and I was truly astounded when I figured out what it had to be. You know what I mean by the black moment in romance? It’s toward the end, where the hero and heroine are thrust apart by something that makes us readers wonder how they can ever have that HEA (happily ever after) finale to their story.
So there I was merrily writing toward my black moment and suddenly, screech to a halt, I had to stop and think. What was it going to be? I looked at where I was aiming and how all the plot elements were about to resolve, and like an image snapping into focus I saw that it was the same as in any romance, but ever so twisted. In other words, it was a revelation for me. Told you I was new to writing these.
If you love these capture fantasy stories you like seeing her abducted, and you thrill when the hero imposes his will on the woman, whether he’s a highlander, a lord from outer space, or contemporary man. So the black moment is, yet again, the two of them being separated. Only in this case, even though we desperately want them back together, the heroine does not want to ever see him again. Because, to her, he is someone who has done things to her that she didn’t give him permission to do. See what I mean by twisted?
Don’t get confused with a horror story here either. In those you may have a heroine escaping from a serial rapist villain, or whatever, but they are not written to be erotically arousing. Capture fantasy is written for women, and being a sexually charged story is the whole point of them.
But I also realized that I could go one step farther than that curious black moment. Since it’s not precisely a standard romance, I didn’t have to let them ever meet again. And that tantalizing possibility winds the tension up yet another notch. This story was such fun to write.

Early praise for Bind and Keep Me:
“Bind and Keep me, leads you down a depraved path full of dark desires that you know are so wrong, but feel too good for you to care. Cari Silverwood makes losing what we all cherish—our freedom—sinfully erotic.” - Bianca Sommerland, author of Deadly Captive
“Enthralling and seductive, BIND AND KEEP ME brings the taboo into our basements and locks us inside. A must-read for lovers of dangerous erotic fiction.” - Skye Warren, author of Wanderlust

Glossary of US and Australian terms
In the interests of not jerking most of my readers out of the story with some unfamiliar word usages, I opted to sometimes use the US word instead. However, since I completed the book, I’ve been told by many American readers that they’d rather I use the Aussie words.
I’m not entirely convinced. Since I think I have far more American fans than Australian, I may still be tempted in Book 3, “Make Me Yours, Forevermore”, to use some American terms. If you want to tell me otherwise, feel free to pop a comment on my facebook wall.
This example is why I hesitate:
Klaus put on his thongs and strolled out the door to take his daily walk on the beach.
US word vs Aussie
Cell phone = mobile   US term used in the story
College  = University or Uni   Australian word used
Dishcloth = tea towel   I used the US word
Flip flops = thongs   This was explained in the story
Cooler = esky   US word used with the Australian word
Popsicle = ice block   US word used
Shrimp = prawn   This was explained in the story
Spatula = egg flip   This was explained in the story, and it’s a regional Australian term that isn’t used nationwide, I think
SUV = Four wheel drive   US word used
There may be others I substituted but missed seeing. I have become so used to doing this in my stories that it’s almost automatic. I have also used US spelling throughout. Though this book is self-published both of my earlier publishers, Loose Id and Lyrical Press, used US spelling.
