With no family member to turn to, David has to rely on his detective skills and a mysterious item left to him from his mother-a crimson-colored key.

The search for the truth takes David to New York City, where he runs head on into lies, deception and murder, all in an attempt to cover up a string of dreadful crimes. Then if this is not enough to deal with, he falls for the daughter of a prominent man, both sharing an undeniable attraction-which complicates his life even further.

My Review:
Wow. I did not expect that this book would be that much different then other mysteries, but I was wrong. The author shocked me with who the killer was, and although I didn't like one very important part of the ending, the ending over all was enjoyable. I didn't like this part because David was trying to find family, and I think that the book could have been a lot better without his reaction to a certain "family member". It is not what I wanted to read about while I was in the middle of the reveals at the end. It kind of grossed me out. However the mystery was great, and I did not expect who the killer was, nor did I expect the role the key played. I really liked the paranormal twist in the book, and I have witnessed something similar since my dad died. This is a book worth reading. I can not wait to read what else the author writes, I am giving this book a 3/5 (the story lost my respect with the above issue, and it just made me not want to know the ending). I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.
