2 Kiwi book reviews by Vickie Johnstone ~ Kiwi's Christmas Tail and Kiwi and the Living Nightmare~

Kiwi and the Living Nightmare

In book three of the Kiwi Series, Amy, James and Kiwi embark on their spookiest adventure yet – on Halloween. What begins with an eerie dream about a three-legged cat will take the budding detectives on a quest to find an old house in the middle of the woods, meeting some familiar characters and some perky squirrels along the way. Little do they know that there awaits an angry, restless presence that will do anything to stop them leaving.

Kiwi's Christmas Tail
ur, magic, thrills and comedy moments fill this fantasy adventure set over Christmas, involving a star, a fairy, a witch, a toad, some catizens and Santa himself.
Amy, James and their magical cat, Kiwi, find a star. But this is not an ordinary star. He’s living and breathing, and his name is Sharissimo. A year earlier, the star and a fairy called Lilabel were captured by an evil witch with a big wart on her nose. While Sharissimo managed to escape, Lilabel couldn’t. Can Amy, James and Kiwi find the fairy before Christmas Eve and rescue her from the clutches of the witch? The witch herself is in for a shock when she finds herself in the furry land of Cat City.
Set in the human world, Cat City and Santa’s Grotto.
This book can be read without having read the previous ones, because there are no series plot strands.
My Review:
Well First I have to say that I am reading these out of order because my niece wants to read them this way. She loved reading the first book, and wanted to get a pet cat. She already has a dog, so we were able to coax her to wait. lol I shouldn't talk, I have 6 cats! Back to the story!
Kiwi and the Living Nightmare: Both Amy and James dream of a 3 legged cat. They want to help save it. So they set out to find the poor kitty. What I liked was that this showed that not everyone is perfect ad kids should read about disabled characters. This is the "halloween" book in the series. There are ghosts, scary houses in the woods and of course other animals that make noises in the dark. (mostly just squirrels. lol). I laughed in this one because it was so cute at times. Inspector Furrball also learned some things in this book! This is a 4/5!! My niece loved it and we are doing writing prompts for what happens in cat world! She has a great imagination!
Kiwi's Christmas Tail: She had to read this one asap. She loves Santa. This is the last book in the series, and it is funny because as Amy and James come back to the human world they forget to keep their cat tendencies to themselves. They start to clean themselves like cats and they start to stretch like cats. My niece kept saying how silly that was. She was very adamant that they save Santa! These definitely can be read in any order and each one is new and different! I am giving this one a 4/5 as well!
I was given copies to review, however all opinions are my own!

  1. Thank you! I'm so happy you and your niece enjoyed them. There's a bit of a plot line in book 2 as Kiwi's mum, and the hamster and mouse are introduced. Book 4 is probably best read before 5 as there is a big plot surprise in that one, but I'm glad they're working out of order. The little 3-legged cat is also in books 4-5. Also pleased that the halloween one wasn't too scary. I'm glad to hear your niece is writing her own stories about cats. That's so cool! :)
