Book

The Love Wars — Penguin
Author
Alison Heller
ISBN

Price
$10.88
Setting:  What to do first in the city that
never sleeps? A picnic in Central Park? A
Soho shopping spree? Let’s splurge on
tickets to a Broadway show and end our visit
with a midnight trip to the top of the
Empire State Building (since we don’t do
 long lines in the heat)!
Plot: Breaking up is hard to do. At least the
first few times. Even though Molly Grant has
only a handful of relationships behind her,
she’s already been through more divorces than
she can count. At the premier Manhattan law
firm where she’s a matrimonial attorney, the
hours are long, the bosses tyrannical, and the
 bonuses stratospheric. Everything changes when
Molly takes on a client who is the ex-wife of a
 ruthless media mogul. Suddenly, complications
both professional and personal stack up …

L. Alison Heller is a divorce lawyer and mediator who started her own practice after working for several years in Manhattan law firms. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and young daughters. THE LOVE WARS is her first novel. Visit her website at lalisonheller.com
My Review:
This was a very interesting look at the inner workings of a law firm. What was even more entertaining was the fact that the main character worked with Divorces. People do crazy stuff for money. Especially when they want to hurt their ex. I thought that this was funny at times, and really sad at others. Molly works long hours and is very well off. She makes her living making the ex'es of her clients suffer.
When she loses her heart on a case, she doesn't know what to do. She is torn between her heart and her ethical duties as a attorney.
The book progressed really nicely and I kept thinking that someone was going to catch her. I was afraid that she would lose her job, or even worse her true love.
The attorney's that Molly works with are pretty mean, and Molly has a hard time fitting in with them at first. Is love worth risking everything she has worked so hard for?
I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own!
