* * *

The last thing that the girls at the elite Jane Austen Academy need is hot guys to flirt with. But over the summer the school has been sold, and like it or not, the guys are coming. And it’s about to turn the Academy—and the lives of its students—totally upside down…

The Jane Austen Academy series are modern retellings of Jane Austen classics set at a beachside California boarding school.

Author Bio:

Cecilia Gray lives in the San Francisco Bay Area where she reads, writes and breaks for food. She also pens her biographies in the third person. Like this. As if to trick you into thinking someone else wrote it because she is important. Alas, this is not the case.

Cecilia has been praised for “instilling a warmth and weight into her characters”  (Romancing The Book Reviews) and her books have been praised for being “well-written, original, realistic and witty” (Quills & Zebras Reviews).
Her latest series of young-adult contemporary Jane Austen retellings was named a What’s Hot pick (RT Book Reviews magazine) and is a Best of 2012 pick (Kirkus Reviews) where it was praised for being a “unique twist on a classic” and offering “a compelling mix of action, drama and love.” She’s rather enamored of being contacted by readers and hopes you’ll oblige at cecilia@ceciliagray.com or any of the following sites:

PLAYLIST

Some authors create elaborate playlists personalized down to the scene for each book. I've even heard of writers who have a different song for every kiss. I'm much lazier more laidback about my playlist approach.
I focus on two songs, per book.
In SUDDENLY YOU, it's these two….
1.       Lose Yourself by Eminem
My first song always represents the character at the beginning of the book. Fanny Sato, the heroine of SUDDENLY YOU wants to be an Olympic gold medalist in track. Like…more than she wants to marry a Hemsworth brother.  Fanny may not even know who the Hemsworths are. She doesn’t even watch TV or movies. Track is all she thinks about, all she's obsessed with. This song epitomizes her drive and how critical it is for her to succeed and more importantly, how alone she feels in attaining this goal.

2.       Find A Way by Young Love

My second song always represents the character at the end of the book. It also tends to be the book's theme (I know, I know..theme…groan!!!!) Everyone has a different takeaway when they read a book, but I always have one in mind when I write it. This song is about living life to its fullest, no matter the consequences.  So if you don’t get that out of the book, big fat Fail for you. Just kidding. ;)

My Review:
There is something to be said about an author that keeps getting her books rewritten. Jane Austen is one of those authors. Her characters transcend time, and are  easy to relate to.  This book is a new take on Mansfied Park. Fanny is in this version and is like the original Fanny. They both eave home in order to better themselves. They are both lower class.
This is a book in a series, where the Jane Austen Academy is going to go out of business soon. So Fanny and her friends Lizzie, Josh Wickham, Anne, Kat, Emma and Henry. In case you didn't read the othdr books in this series then you need to know that this is where these characters come from. Jane Austen fans will also notice characters from other Jane Austen books. I really liked this book, and liked the author's take. There were a lot of similarities and they were in the book like little prizes for Jane Austen fans!
However there are enough differences so that I was still interested in finding out the ending! I would have liked less track in the book. I did like the way Fanny's character grew and grew. I was very impressed with the way her character ended up.
I am giving this book a 4/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own!
