Disintegrate by Christine Klocek-Lim Interview and Giveaway!!

Emily just wanted a normal life: a boyfriend, college, two parents who loved her. Instead, her dad disappeared when she was fourteen and her life at college is anything but ordinary. When you can manipulate matter like putty and you have no idea why, how do you pretend to be like everyone else? What happens when you meet a guy who has the same powers? Do you trust him to help you find the answers you need? Emily desperately wants to believe that Jax can help, but the stakes grow higher than she’d ever expected: someone is after them and they’re not afraid to use violence to get what they want.

Author Interview:
1. Are her parents magical?

Emily’s parents are not magical at all… her father was a scientist before he disappeared and her mother is kind of messed up because she doesn’t know where her husband went. Emily is trying to escape her life and start a new one at college, but her powers make it difficult for her to completely forget where she comes from. And things happen to her that make her question everything she thought she knew about her family.

2. What kind of student is she?

Emily would be a great student, if only the bad guys left her alone! She’s trying very hard to do the right thing and study hard, but circumstances beyond her control make that difficult. And then there’s Jax. She meets him in a bar where he’s playing guitar. When he later turns up in her art class as a model, well, Emily finds him a bit distracting.

3. What other powers are in the book?

Emily has the ability to manipulate matter. When she meets Jax, she thinks he’s an ordinary guy (well, except he plays guitar and is seriously cute), but when some men try to kill her, she discovers that Jax has powers very similar to hers. They can both manipulate matter, but in different ways. Jax can read matter in a way that tells him if anyone is in the next room or even further away. Emily can reshape things or destroy them.

4. Are there sequels?

There will be! I’m planning on writing the next book in the series sometime this year. Emily’s story isn’t quite finished yet.

5. What would you like my readers to know?

Disintegrate is my first young adult novel, but it won’t be the last. I love to write and I have so many ideas that I’ve yet to put down on paper. I can’t wait to get started on the rest of Emily’s story. She and Jax have a lot of work ahead of them. If you’d like to have a taste of what Disintegrate is about, here is the description:

  2. Hi Alenette!
I started writing Disintegrate in February. I had parts of the idea in my head for a while, and it was finally time to sit down and write Emily's story. Thanks for asking!
