Mystery
It’s 1974 and Carrie Shepherd, daughter of the minister at Windspree Community Church, is a college senior with plans to be a missionary in Africa. Raped by a masked assailant, Carrie is so traumatized she tells no one until she realizes she’s pregnant. Refusing to have an abortion, she must find the courage to face her family, her fiance, her friends and a gossiping, angry congregation which may include her attacker.
My Review:
I really felt bad for Carrie. She was Raped, and she got pregnant. I like that she decided to keep the baby. She had to tell her minister father and her mother. They reacted differently then I thought they would, for good reason. I got really involved with Carrie's story and I wanted to shake her and tell her to talk to her fiance. She keep her secret to herself for so long, and it was not easy for her. She felt used and unwanted. Once she told someone she felt a little better. She had to give up her plans to be a missionary.
I thought that the way the neighbors acted were true to life and people do gossip. I thought that this was a great book for awareness of how rape victims feel.
I liked the ending, and thought that it was awesome, however there was something missing, and it cost the book a star. I really wanted this tidbit of info.
I am giving this book a 4/5. I received this book free from the publisher through theBookCrash.com book review program, which requires an honest, though not necessarily positive, review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
