Excitement is in the air as everyone in Mermaid Bay is preparing for the Christmas season. This year promises to be more dazzling than ever when the business council sponsors a competition for the town’s lucrative summer fireworks contract. The quaint little beach town is ready to be wowed with choreographed shows and drone action that light up the night sky.

Instead of goodwill and sparkles, two of the teams take the competition to new lows with corporate espionage, feuds, and sabotage, and Jade and her team at ‘Tis the Season are ground zero for all the explosive action. When one of the competitors turns up murdered near Jade’s shop, she has to solve the mystery before the holidays are ruined.

Interview

Where are you from? I’m originally from Virginia Beach, but we live in Central Virginia outside of Richmond.

Tell us your latest news?A Tisket A Tasket, Not Another Casket, the third in the Mermaid Bay Christmas Shoppe Mysteries just came out. In March, the first in my new Pearly Girls Mystery series launches. It’s called Murder Strikes a Chord. And the fifth book in the Jules Keene Glamping Mysteries, Teddy Bears and Ghostly Lairs, launches in October.

When and why did you begin writing? I have always loved reading and writing. I didn’t start professionally until my first mystery story was published in 2013 in Virginia is for Mysteries.

When did you first consider yourself a writer? In my day gig, I was a technical writer for years, so I did a lot of business writing. I really felt like an author when my first story was published, and I saw my name on the cover.

What inspired you to write your first book?I have loved mysteries since Scooby-Doo and Nancy Drew, and I always wanted to write a mystery.

Do you have a specific writing style? I like cozy mysteries. They are often humorous and light and written in the British tradition where there’s not graphic language, sex, or violence. There is a crime, and in the end, justice is always served.

How did you come up with the title? My Mermaid Bay Christmas Shoppe Mysteries all have some sort of nursery rhyme (gone bad) in them. The books are Sticks and Stones and a Bag of Bones, Twinkle Twinkle Au Revoir, and A Tisket a Tasket Not Another Casket. Life is But a Scream comes out in 2026.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp? I write crime fiction, but in the end of each novel justice is served. The amateur sleuth helps the police solve the crime.

What would you like my readers to know? Check out all my series: The Jules Keene Glamping Mysteries, the Mermaid Bay Christmas Shoppe Mysteries, the Pearly Girls Mysteries and the Delanie Fitzgerald Mysteries.

Thanks for letting me stop by the blog and talk about cozy mysteries!
