About Sarah Hualde
Sarah lives in California, in a home that brings her happiness and hay fever. She loves God, loves her family, and loves freshly brewed coffee. She has a husband who cooks, a son who stop animates, a daughter who loves animals, a dog that follows her everywhere, and a turtle who scowls at her condescendingly.
Her mother raised her on Mary Higgins Clark, Diane Mott Davidson, and Remington Steele. Her grandmother shared True Crime stories with her as they plotted how to get away with the perfect murder. It's no surprise that Sarah became an award-winning spinner of suspenseful tales brimming with quirky characters. Mysteries are in her blood. Not that she could survive one of her own stories. She confesses, "I'd be snuffed out by chapter two."
Interview
Where are you from?
I’m from Southern California.
Tell us your latest news?
I just released my 2oth mystery in October 2024. I’m so thrilled to have made it that far. I didn’t know I had that many words in me.
When and why did you begin writing?
I started writing for publication on a self-dare, just to see if I had it in me. That was six years ago.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
It’s still hard to believe I’m a writer—even 20 books in. But I’ve just recently grown comfortable enough to tell people I meet that I’m a writer when they ask what I do. It gives me goosebumps of joy/disbelief every time.
What inspired you to write your first book?
I was raised listening to, reading, and watching mysteries, so I chose a mystery to be my first novel. I thought mysteries would be easy. Spoiler: they’re not.
Do you have a specific writing style?
I like short, dialogue-heavy books. Fast-paced, fun, and character-friendly.
How did you come up with the title?
Lots of brain storming. Naming my novels is one of the hardest parts of writing for me. What I like might not show readers what the story is like, etc. So I work on it for a long time, and brainstorm it with friends and family.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
I accidentally tend to write the same theme: Find your gift and your purpose, and use it to change the world around you.
What would you like my readers to know?
Readers make a writer's world go round. This writer loves to hear from readers and loves building relationships with fans.
