About the Author:

Electra Gajdos is from Winnemucca, Nevada and currently lives in West Michigan. She is a wife and the mother of two beautiful genius children. (Maybe not true geniuses, but a mother is always partial to her kids.) She won’t bore you with her childhood love of all things sci-fi and the game of chess. But she will let you know she once called the police to save a man from jumping off a three-story building. What she didn’t know was the man was a mannequin and part of an advertisement. No lie! Thankfully, it gave the police officer a good laugh for the night. This is just one her many good deeds gone wonky, and she looks forward to sharing more of them with you.

Interview
Where are you from?
I’m from a small town in the desert called Winnemucca, Nevada. It’s not small anymore, you know your home town has grown when they have a Super Walmart now. I currently reside in West Michigan. I’m not a fan of the snow in the winter, but the beaches of Lake Michigan make up for it in the summer.
Tell us your latest news?
I am overly excited about the book tour that Ambushing Malachi is going to be in for the next month. Thank you so much for having me. It’s a surreal moment for me to see my first book published and on a book tour.
When and why did you begin writing?
I started writing at very young age, around 9 or 10 years old. A school counselor encouraged me to write to cope with my damaged childhood. Even though I struggled with multiple learning disabilities, it felt so natural to create a loving, happy, safe world I could hide in. My writing fell at the wayside around high school graduation, and then college, marriage, and kids all took over. It wasn’t until the death of my little brother, Shawn, who died in Iraq, did I start writing again. The pain was so great. I didn’t know how to deal with his loss and kept it all in internally. One night, Shawn came and visited me in my dreams. He told me to write, to cope, and to follow my childhood dreams to become an author. Each night I work to complete that dream, and it has been the best therapy for me.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Umm, I am still working on this one. It might take a few books before I can see myself as a writer. For me, my personal definition of a writer is someone who has a great deal of experience and knowledge in the craft. I am an amazing story teller who is growing to become an amazing writer.

What inspired you to write your first book?
Two of my favorite books to read are werewolves, (Yes, I was for team Jacob, in the Twilight series, LOL) and anything in sci-fi—especially technological advancements—were what inspired my first book. These two genres started to mesh as one in my mind, and then my brother’s military background somehow incorporated itself in the story. Next thing I knew, there was a whole world with different characters and plots, all yelling for me to write them.
Do you have a specific writing style?
I like to use different writing styles and techniques to make sure the characters, plots, and the different worlds I have created are told in the best way possible.
How did you come up with the title?
It was 2 a.m., and I decided it was time to call it a night. As my head hit the pillow, my mind lite up like a light bulb, and the scene of Jez ambushing Malachi came to life. I was so exhausted and couldn’t get up to write another 500-plus words, so grabbing my note book on the night stand, I wrote two words, ambush Malachi and fell asleep. The next morning, I knew Ambushing Malachi was the perfect title for Jez and Malachi.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
No, I didn’t set out to create a story with a message. The story line was for pure enjoyment and entertainment purposes.

How much of the book is realistic?
I would say very realistic. The characters, theme, and technology in Ambushing Malachi are exaggerated elements of reality or history. The weapons in Ambushing Malachi are more advanced versions of what we already have. Wolvens in my book are genetically altered males, a creation by the government to be part of a super army. Germany was known for their genetic experiment attempts during World War II. Characters who are fighting mental illness, is very much part of current culture. Almost every new development in our world is built on the previous “crazy person’s” idea, which ends up becoming reality at some point in time.
Are experiences based on someone you know or events in your own life?
Absolutely! If a writer or story teller doesn’t put a part of them themselves, their experiences, or relationships into their books, it takes away from the characters and the book as a whole. I would compare a book written without an author’s experiences, to a zombie; a body is there, but the mind and soul is missing.
In Ambushing Malachi, Malachi and Jez’s fast-paced relationship is based on my relationship with my husband. My husband and I had been friends for years, but not romantically involved—not even once! One night he called and said he wanted to hang out with me. The same night he told me he wanted me to be his forever. Six months later, we were married, and 15 years later I am still happily married to the same man.
What books have most influenced your life most?
Marvel Comic books and classic fairy tales. As a kid, I always saw myself like Snow White, Rapunzel, and Cinderella. I wanted to be rescued by Captain America, Wolverine, Gambit, and the Hulk, and not by some wimpy Prince Charming. I wanted a strong alpha, bad boy, who could kick some butt—much like a lot of the sci-fi and fantasy romances depict today.
If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
There isn’t just one mentor for me. I am very close with Mikayla Lane, who has guided me throughout this process. A have a writers group I run to when I panic about something I don’t know.  It was an accidental purchase of one S.E. Smith’s books that empowered me to get published. If it wasn’t for me not being able to find a physical of her book at B&N, I would have never looked into getting published.
What book are you reading now?
Chris by Mikayla Lane.
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Libby Sinclair, and her book, Deadlock. You know the author is good when you get miffed they didn’t make the book longer, and you wanted more.
What are your current projects?
I am currently working on Kiara’s Choice. Kiara is the sister of Malachi and was originally supposed to be the first book in the Eastern Providence in the Wolven Series. Big brother wasn’t having it, and decided that if he doesn’t follow anyone else’s rules, he wouldn’t follow mine either.
Kiara is accepted to attend a hunt during the Gathering of Prey, and she is chosen for the hunt by Commander Blade. Blade only attends the hunts to support his men when a scent catches him off guard. He feels the mating pull with Kiara, but she fights the bond at every turn. She causes a series of diversions to deter the commander. What Kiara doesn’t know is Commander Blade has never been told no and won’t allow it from his mate, no matter how many times he has to hunt her down.
