Decanting a Murder
by Nadine Nettmann

I LOVED this book…ok, maybe because it has to do with wine and the wine country in California, but it was also a very engaging book with several twists and turns that I didn’t see coming…
~Storeybook Reviews
The mystery was really good as well as the characters… if you are a fan of cozies then you will like this one.
~Books, Movies, Reviews. Oh my!
This Debut will tickle your taste buds and a murder that will keep you guessing until the very end.
~Shelley’s Book Case
A highly enjoyable crime thriller set in the wine-lands of the Napa Valley.
~Jemima Pett, Author
I was not surprised to learn that the author herself is a certified sommelier. Her knowledge of wines and wineries is extensive, which comes through in the writing of the book, and makes it that much more interesting.
~Book Babble
…well written and engaging, and I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys wine and cozy mysteries…

Synopsis

Katie Stillwell focuses on two things in her life: work and practicing for her Sommelier Certification with her blind tasting group. The exam was supposed to be the hardest part of her week, but that was before a body was found at an exclusive Napa Valley winery party.
When all the evidence points to Katie’s best friend, the outspoken and independent Tessa, Katie drops everything to clear Tessa’s name. Using her deductive wine skills, she tries to track down the real killer. But when repeated attempts are made on her life, Katie discovers that everyone’s secrets must be uncorked―including her own.

Interview

Where are you from? Thank you so much for having me on your blog! I grew up in Los Angeles, California.

Tell us your latest news? I’m so excited that my debut novel, Decanting a Murder, has just been released. It’s a wine themed murder mystery and every chapter is paired with a wine.

When and why did you begin writing? I’ve wanted to be a writer my whole life so I could say I started writing as soon as I could hold a pencil, but it was probably a little bit after that. As for the why, I’ve always been an avid reader and wanted to try creating my own stories.

When did you first consider yourself a writer? I would have to say when I had my first travel article published. It was such a thrill to see my words in print when the copies arrived in the mail.

What inspired you to write your first book? Although Decanting a Murder is my first book to be published, it’s my fifth book. The other four are currently shelved and there’s a good chance they might stay there. My inspiration to write the first one was that I had only ever written short stories, but I really wanted to do a full-length novel. I had an idea for a mystery so I wrote the whole book and queried it, but it didn’t find a home. Looking back at it now, it’s probably better that it didn’t.

Do you have a specific writing style? I always write in first person and keep my prose pretty straightforward.

How did you come up with the title? I wanted to make sure I included both a mention of wine and mystery in the title. At first I thought about doing something like Merlot and Murder, but I found that it had already been used, so I kept the Murder part and thought about different wine words. Soon, Decanting a Murder was born.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp? Yes, to keep going and never give up. If there’s something you want, keep trying for it even if you don’t succeed at first.

What would you like my readers to know? I would like to thank them for reading my work. It’s been my lifelong dream to have a book published and I’m grateful to everyone who picks it up! I’m also happy to Skype in to book clubs.
