“A captivating story… richly woven narrative with vivid characters. A perfect story."
From the bestselling author of The Storyteller’s Secret comes an unflinching exploration of betrayal, forgiveness, and the healing power of a second chance.
Celine’s life is spiraling out of control. She’s in danger of losing the beloved equestrian farm that was her childhood home. Her distant husband, Eric, is devoting a suspicious amount of time to a stunning new colleague. Then her young son, Brian, receives a devastating cancer diagnosis. How much worse can things get?
Felicity has uprooted her career and her teenage son, Justin, to get closer to Eric. She’s tired of keeping his secrets―that Eric’s frequent “business trips” have been spent playing family with them. Felicity is determined to get her happily ever after, even if it means confronting Celine at a delicate time.
But when Brian’s prognosis worsens, and a transplant from Justin becomes his best chance at survival, Felicity must make a wrenching decision about her son’s well-being―and Celine must accept that the “other woman” is her only hope. In another life Celine and Felicity might have been friends. Can they put aside the pain between them to do what’s best for their families―and their own futures?

1. What literary pilgrimages have you gone on? I had previously traveled to India which served as
critical research for my first two novels, Trail of Broken Wings and The Storyteller’s
Secret. I have also traveled extensively through Europe, which is the setting
for my new YA series.
2. What is the first book that made you cry? A SummerTo Die by Lois Lowry
3. Does writing energize or exhaust you? Both 😊
4. What is your writing Kryptonite? Travel – I absolutely love to travel and get
so lost in the experience that I can’t access my imagination or discipline to
write. 😊
5. Did you ever consider writing under a
pseudonym? Yes.
6. What other authors are you friends with, and
how do they help you become a better writer? I love connecting with other authors and am inspired by their
commitment to hours they write and the daily schedules for finishing a novel. I
can definitely do better in that area.
7. Do you want each book to stand on its own, or
are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book? Though there are similar themes that run
through my books – friendship, resilience, finding yourself – I believe each
book can stand on it’s own. However, the YA series I am currently writing is
slated to be a 5-7 book series.
8. What authors did you dislike at first but grew
into? Science fiction was a
genre I had to come to love but once I did I can’t get enough.
9. What’s your favorite under-appreciated novel? Though it’s not a novel the book that truly
changed how I write is Stephen King’s On Writing – A Memoir of the Craft.
Simply Brilliant.
10As a writer, what would you choose as your
mascot/avatar/spirit animal? The
Lion.
11How many unpublished and half-finished books
do you have? Too many to count.
12What did you edit out of this book? Kaitlyn’s death. In the published version, she
lives.
13 If you didn’t write, what would you do for
work? I used to be an
attorney and was terrible at it so am very happy that writing worked out.
14Do you hide any secrets in your books that
only a few people will find? I
had a difficult relationship with my father. At least one character in every
book faces their own struggles with their father.
15What is your favorite childhood book? Guess How Much I Love You. Though not my childhood book, it’s the one I read to my children over and over again so it’s definitely my favorite.
