Secrets are burning out of control
After she broke his heart in college, Faye Walker is the last person fire chief Reese Bristow ever expected to see again, especially as his new EMT. But that's not Reese's only surprise. Faye has an eight-year-old son, Elliott, whose counseling at The Lemonade Stand shelter is her first priority.

It's nearly impossible to accept that she had a child with another man—and married that man—right after their breakup. Trusting Faye won't be easy. Especially when she reveals a secret about the boy that might tear them apart for good.

I write my stories on my own. I don’t have a critique group,
a plotting partner, or even a Beta reader. My stories are between my head, my
computer and I – and then my editorial team at Harlequin joins in. That’s
it…until they’re in your hands.
However…the things in my head that go into my books – they
come from all over the place. In The Fireman’s Son, one particular part came
from a very particular place. Faye Walker is a paramedic. I’ve never been a
paramedic. I couldn’t just become one. So I married one. Ha, ha, not really. I
mean, I really did marry one, but not to write Faye’s story. I just picked the
brain of the man I married to write the book. The calls Faye goes on are
renditions of things he told me about different calls he had to answer. In one
scene, a body was trapped in a car and had to be removed. He helped with that.
Still, if there are any inconsistencies or wrong portrayals they are all mine!
I’m still not a paramedic. And I did all of the writing without him checking it
over. He still hasn’t read it and probably doesn’t even remember me grilling
him about it. He’s used to my questions by now. I’m a walking question even
when I’m not at the computer or in the middle of a book…
This particular story is also a major milestone for me…my 80th
published novel with Harlequin! I hope, if you haven’t read any of my stories
before, you’ll give me a chance to entertain you!
