BLURB:

In the mythical, medieval land of Xana, Queen Julia ruled as a typical aristocratic monarch in a country whose great wealth was concentrated among the privileged few.  Her  daughter, Princess Agatha, was the champion of the commoners.  The evil sorcerer Magi comes to Xana to kill Queen Julia and ravage aristocrats and commoners alike.  Princess Agatha alone is spared, for she is protected by her fairy godmother.  Now the beautiful heiress has two challenges, first to rid Xana of Magi and then to lift all the commoners from poverty into prosperity.  To achieve her first goal she must identify her handsome prince incognito in the crowd on her first try.  She won't have a second chance.  To achieve her second she must invent and use radical political schemes even if not all her people approve.

Excerpt One:

Agatha alone Magi left untouched, for she was protected by her fairy godmother.   She came to Agatha, saying, "I cannot alone undo what Magi has done, but I can protect you.  Magi can do you no harm.  To you alone I can give the power to overcome Magi.

"Magi has also destroyed the kingdom of Wan.  The crown prince of Wan, Olaf, survives.  He will come to you.  When you make love to him, Magi will be destroyed, but he cannot identify himself to you.  If he does, all is lost for both Xana and Wan.  You must identify him from among all the many young men who aspire to become your prince.  If you make love to anyone else before Olaf, Magi's evil spell will last forever."

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

Sam Cunningham is a small college physics teacher.  He knows from personal experience with his pupils that through nurturing nearly all young people can become productive citizens.  It is an overwhelming tragedy that so many poor children are not given this nurturing.  Their personal loss, and the loss to their country of their productive ability, is a catastrophe.  As a scientist he understands that critical thinking and the ability to follow where the evidence leads are the only reliable ways to understand the real world.  Away from work he leaves the real world of hard evidence to read science fiction and fantasy.  His favorite childhood movie was the Walt Disney 1950 cartoon of Cinderella, and he greatly admires strong women.  Sam brings together all of these ingredients in this story of a princess who becomes a wise and inspired queen with a personal mission to achieve productivity, prosperity, and happiness for all of her people.

Interview:

Where are you from?
I have lived in many places in the United States, currently in New Mexico.

Tell us your latest news?
It is exciting to promote “The Legend of Queen Agatha,” which I have spent so many hours preparing.

When and why did you begin writing?
All my life I have had a vivid imagination, and scenes pop into my head.  To save these scenes, I wrote them down, and have preserved many of them in my personal archive.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I have considered myself a writer most of my life, but only recently seriously considered self-publishing my writings.

What inspired you to write your first book?
About three years ago the scene of a beautiful and compassionate princess popped into my head.  To save her people from an evil sorcerer who is ravaging her land, she must identify her handsome prince incognito in the crowd and make love to him, and on her first try.  She won’t get a second chance.  If she succeeds, she can assert her right to rule and become a wise and enlightened queen who seeks the prosperity of all the commoners above the fabulously wealthy aristocrats.  To this single scene I added one sentence or paragraph at a time over many months, and when I had a full length novel (130 pages), I decided to self-publish to share my story with the world.

What would you like my readers to know?
The Legend of Queen Agatha” is both a medieval erotic fantasy and a political allegory.  I believe that people who admire strong women, like radical politics, and whose sympathies are with the common people rather than the fabulously wealthy, will find a lot to like in this story.  Queen Agatha can be a positive role model for strong women who achieve positions of some authority and responsibility.
