Four years after the Blood Curse, Pril of the Peddlers vows to protect her child against the evil men who hunt her. With her clan unaware of the branded girl among them, Pril has to keep the identity of her daughter a secret. When her child is kidnapped, she is forced to ask Merchant runner, Kade Walker, for his help.
Kade Walker needs to find the gypsy child. Blackmailed and pushed beyond his own moral code, he is determined to do whatever it takes. When he comes across the Peddler clan, he is sure the girl is there, however all hope is lost when the gypsies capture him. Time is running out—until Pril makes him an offer he cannot refuse.
Amidst greed, lust, revenge and love, Pril will need to trust Kade. But as the evil nears and doubt creeps in, will she discover that the enemy has been standing next to her all along?
Editorial Review:
“BLOOD CURSE by Kat Flannery sucks you in and keeps you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the last. I fell in love with Pril, Kade and the relationship that blooms between them. While there are sparks between them, Ms Flannery weaves her tale without having a sex scene. In a market where sex scenes are a dime a dozen it is refreshing to read a perfect blend of romance and intrigue without having sex forced on you. Without giving any spoilers you will see the lengths Pril will go through to keep her daughter safe from the men of the Monroe family. They believe the way to break the curse sworn on them by Pril’s sister, Vadoma, is to kill her child, Tsura. The very thought of this would turn anyone’s heart ice cold, unless of course you were the head of the Monroe family yourself. If you are a lover of Gypsies and all things magical this book will engage you heart and soul. I highly recommend reading BLOOD CURSE. For if you do, you will be enthralled, entertained but never disappointed.” —Sandra Bischoff, author of BEYOND TIME
“Engrossing, enchanting, and suspenseful. BLOOD CURSE (Book 2 in the Branded Trilogy) is the perfect blend of paranormal, history and romance. The prequel is as impossible to put down as its predecessor, LAKOTA HONOR. Flannery deftly weaves a tight plot filled with mystery, emotional detail and heart-thumping action.” —Kim Cresswell, award-winning author of REFLECTION
“Ms. Flannery has crafted a taut story deeply embedded with gypsy lore, along with the fanatical fear of witches that permeated the time period. Pril and Kade's love grows slowly, and surprising betrayals and revelations will keep the pages turning. Tragedy and unwavering perseverance fill this wonderful tale to a surprise ending. A richly-woven tale of early America and gypsy lore.” —Kristy McCaffrey, author of INTO THE LAND OF SHADOWS

Interview:
Do you hear from readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
Interview:
When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I’ve loved to write since I was
young, but I didn’t really pursue it until my mid twenties.
How long does it take you to write a book?
How long does it take you to write a book?
The writing part 2-3 months. The
plotting part takes much longer. When I get an idea for a book it comes to me
in pieces. Small bits of information on characters, scenes, and dialogue filter
in and out of my brain until the plot hits me. This usually comes in the early
hours of the morning.
Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
They are just there. Once I have an
idea I talk it out with friends and family, and I listen to what they say.
Everyone has different life experiences, and I take those into consideration
molding and sculpting them into a riveting tale. There have been times when an
idea has just come to me and I have no clue where it came from. Those are the
best ones…BLOOD CURSE was such a book.
When did you write your first book and how old were you?
When did you write your first book and how old were you?
My first book was CHASING CLOVERS
and I was 30 when I wrote it.
What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
I love spending time with my
family, reading, gardening, and watching movies.
What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
That I can write paranormal. I
never thought I’d go into this genre, but I love it. I am able to create
stories set in historical times with a paranormal element filled with suspense
and romance. All of the things I love to read.
Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?
Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?
Honestly, my only suggestion is
what I still do. Write what you are passionate about. For me it is characters.
I love the whole process of building strong three-dimensional persons, ones my
readers will adore and ones my readers will despise. It is about the
story…their story and I strive to make it the best one possible. And the other
tip; write as much as possible. The only way to become better is to write all
of the time…and read.
Do you hear from readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
I do, and I absolutely love it when
I hear from them. I cherish all compliments and questions from my readers. They
are the reason I write.
What would you like my readers to know?
I am currently working on two western suspense romance novellas to finish off the Montgomery Sisters Series. Look for them next summer. Thank you for taking the time to read this interview. Wishing you all a wonderful day!
