If you love Kristen Ashley…

Anna del Mar’s contemporary romance may be just up your alley. One of the things I love about Kristen is that she tends to write long, giving us a chance to dive into the characters and relationships, and Anna offers the same great escape. In At the Brink, Josh Lane is blunt, ruthless, intense and exacting; a workaholic driven by internal demons; a man who doesn’t play games, except in bed, of course, where he is always in command. Lily Boswell is trapped in a dangerous situation and Josh has no problem taking advantage of that—to protect her and to get her into his bed.

Excerpts

Short Excerpt 1: First kiss

His lips landed on my mouth, soft and yet commanding. His tongue parted my lips, sharing his mouth’s vital moisture. He exhaled into me, heating my cold airways with his warm breath, imbuing my world with his scent, crisp rainfall wafting with fresh ozone, fragrant earth with a hint of leather, a punch of wholesome maleness.
His breath startled my lungs into action. The contact transformed into something deeper and more intense. My starved body wanted more of him, air, scent, tongue, lips. Along the way, my lungs relaxed and my throat loosened beneath his fingers’ caress.
Oh. My. God. He was kissing me now, and his kiss was everything that a kiss ought to be—question, answer, light-infused canvas, an entire painting dedicated to blues and yellows, a portrait of my body in heat.

About the Author:

Anna del Mar writes hot, smart romances that soothe the soul, challenge the mind, and satisfy the heart. Her stories focus on strong heroines struggling to find their place in the world and the brave, sexy, kickass, military heroes who defy the limits of their broken bodies to protect the women they love. Anna enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, and the sea. Writing is her addiction, her drug of choice, and what she wants to do all the time. The extraordinary men and women she met during her years as a Navy wife inspire the fabulous heroes and heroines at the center of her stories. When she stays put—which doesn’t happen very often—she lives in Florida with her indulgent husband and two very opinionated cats.

Interview with Anna del Mar
Where are you from?
I’m from Florida, Tampa Bay area, home of The Bucs, The Lightning and The Rays. I also spend a good amount of time out in Colorado.
Tell us your latest news?
I’m currently promoting At the Brink, my latest novel, which is also my first erotic romance. At the Brink is the story of Josh Lane, decorated war hero and former SEAL turned successful entrepreneur. He is blunt, ruthless, intense and exacting; a workaholic driven by internal demons, a man who doesn't play games, except in bed, of course, where he is always in command. When he meets Lily Boswell, a talented but stifled artist trapped in a dangerous situation, he devises a sexual agreement that explores their most primal erotic cravings, the only chance he might have to protect her and banish the demons that haunt his dreams.

When and why did you begin writing?

I’ve been writing all my life, although the idea of publishing one of my novels was a late development in my life.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I probably thought of myself as a legit romance writer on the day that I signed my contract with Carina Press.
What inspired you to write your first book?
The incredible men and women I met during my years as a Navy wife inspired my novels. Living in the military community gave me great insight into the true definition of heroism. The fact that Josh Lane, the protagonist of At the Brink is a SEAL is no accident.
Do you have a specific writing style?
I like to combine romance, sex and adventure with vivid characters who are growing and evolving within the story’s context. My heroes are alphas. My heroines are kickass strong, even if they don’t always come off like that in the beginning. I like crisp dialogue and complex plots that lead to a heart-melting, sizzling, satisfying ending.
How did you come up with the title?
It was right in there, at the heart of the story, hidden in the prose. It jumped at me and wouldn’t let go.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
That love heals, truly and deeply. That love and sex are different, but when they join together, they are a life-changing force.
What are your current projects?
This is a busy year for me. I’ve just launched The Asset, my first romantic suspense and the first of my Wounded Warrior Series, available now from Carina Press. The Asset is a hot, gritty contemporary romance about a woman, fleeing from her sinister past, who must defy her fears and risk her life to care for a wounded warrior, a SEAL who will protect her until his last breath. On the heels of The Asset comes The Stranger, out August 2016, the second novel of the romantic suspense series. I’m super excited about The Stranger. It’s about an Alaskan tycoon and the sun-loving, warmth-worshipper Miami architect who sends him into a total tail spin when she sleepwalks into his life in majestic Alaska.

On the erotic romance front, At the Brink, just came out this month and a second erotic romance is due out November 2016. I write in two levels of heat and my erotic romances are hot, kinky and explicit. I call it my naughty series for my naughty readers. The cool thing about both series is that all the novels share related themes but they don’t need to be read in any particular order. So you can pick up one anytime and get the full deal.

What would you like my readers to know about At the Brink?
Four things:
At the Brink is an ambitious story, a journey that begins with a familiar theme but then launches into an original journey.
In At the Brink, sex is not a want. It’s a need, a compulsion birthed from the soul and translated to the flesh, a healing force born of the merger of our strengths and weaknesses.
The setup matters—this is not a wham-bam-thank you ma’am. This is a dark, rich, intense, fast-paced, intricate tale that aims at telling a full, complex, wickedly delicious take-me-away story.
And finally, At the Brink is also available as an audiobook here!
