I’ve wanted to be a writer since grade school when I wrote stories for my younger sister.
2. How long does it take you to write a book?
It varies. Usually it takes between three and six months.
3. What is your work schedule like when you're writing?
I have a day job and commute, so my weekday writing time is very limited. During the week, I mainly do revisions and editing. On the weekends when I have larger blocks of writing time, I work on first and second drafts.
4. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I’ve been known to consume an entire jar of atomic fireball candies while on a writing jag.
5. How do books get published?
I’m am currently self-published.
6. Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
Real life and the news provide me with inspiration everyday. For The Beauty of Lies, I’d read a story of a man who filed for divorce only to discover his wife (separated from him) was already married to someone else. For The Fiction of Forever, I took inspiration from all the reality shows on television. Although I rarely have time to watch them now, I find the concept of finding a life partner on a reality show so intriguing.
I could walk down the street right now and see something that could spur a story idea.
7. What do you like to do when you're not writing?
When I’m not writing, I love to read or play with my dog. I also spend too much time on Facebook, but who doesn’t?
8. How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
I’ve published eight full-length novels and contributed shorter works to three anthologies. I’m currently writing my ninth novel. My favorite book I’ve written is The Fiction of Forever.
9. Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?
Seek an online writing community and make sure you have a critique partner(s). Don’t be afraid to ask people for guidance. Writers are the most sharing group of people I’ve ever met. Last, learn to take constructive criticism. I think this one is difficult for a lot of people. Writing is very personal.
10. What would you like my readers to know?
One of my favorite things is to meet my readers. I love connecting with people on social media. I’m on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube.
