Excerpt:
Laura is having lunch at the local diner when two FBI agents approach her and insist she come down to headquarters and answer a few questions. A bewildered Laura finds Chase Donovan, her boss’s son, coming to her aid.
“Laura works for my father,” Chase said. “If I don’t see some identification, she’s not going anywhere with you.” To prove his point, his hand moved downward and his fingers wrapped gently around her forearm.
Chase also worked for his father, although what his role was within the business was generally debatable among the clientele. This was so embarrassing. In the three years Laura had worked as Dick Donovan’s bookkeeper, her conversations with his son had been work-related or cordial exchanges about the weather. If there was any chance of the floor opening up and swallowing her, she considered now the perfect time.
She turned to Chase. “Thank you for your concern. I’ve seen their identification.” She didn’t mention the hasty badge flip. “They have me confused with someone else. I’ll take care of the error, and get back to the office as soon as I can.”
“Let me go with you.” Chase tossed the men a wary glance. He still held her arm. “You should have an attorney.”
Laura winced, truly mortified. There was no need for an attorney or involving Chase Donovan in calling one. She had done nothing illegal. “I’m fine.”

Interview
Where are you from?
I live in Philadelphia, PA, home of the Liberty Bell, and my favorite baseball team, the Philadelphia Phillies.
When and why did you begin writing?
I’ve always been a reader. My mother took me to the library when I was six-years-old for my first library card. I can’t remember exactly when I started writing, but I used to write stories in a copy book and give the book to my grandmother to read.
As an adult, romances have a happy ever after ending that I enjoy. It’s only natural that I would write what I enjoy reading. My television viewing is basically police dramas and soap operas.  The most successful romances are often the ones littered with suspense.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I was a student at Philadelphia Community College. Each semester the college held a writing contest in honor of a Creative Writing instructor who had passed away a few years earlier. My last semester at the college, I won in the short story category. When my name was announced at commencement, that was the first time I felt, “Hey, I’m a writer!”
What inspired you to write your first book?
With Magic Moment, I had the idea for a hero who is going through life believing he has to be the type of person others want him to be, rather than the person he wants to be. Chase Donovan is a man who grew up torn between a self-centered, unprincipled father and a compassionate, selfless mother.
When a colleague of mine said how wished her family could live solely on her husband’s income and that she didn’t have to work, I thought up Laura Roberts. My colleague had mentioned some important milestones she missed in her kids’ lives. For example, her oldest daughter took her first steps in day care. She said she would be happy being a lunch mom at her daughters’ school and going to PTA meetings. Those comments influenced Laura Roberts, a woman who never aspired for a high-power career, but a simple life as a wife and mother.
Bringing the FBI into their lives, and sending the couple on the run, I threw in for twists and turns.  My television viewing is basically police dramas and soap operas. I thought suspense would help to keep the reader turning the page.
How did you come up with the title?
I was preparing to enter the first chapter in a RWA sponsored contest, and I didn’t have a title. Td tI enjoy.  d writing, but I used to write stories in a copy book and give the book to my grandmother to reahe radio was on, I was listening to the oldies station, and Jay Black and the Americans started singing, “This magic moment,” and I typed, “Magic Moment.” I thought if the novel ever made it to publication, someone would want to change the title. I even suggested it to my editor, but she liked the title.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Just to sit back, relax with a cup of hot cocoa, coffee, or tea and enjoy reading.
What books have most influenced your life most?
My grandmother, who has since passed away, supplied me with books from the day I learned to turn a page. My favorite children’s story is The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams. I love that story. Almost all children have a stuff toy that makes them feel secure. Although the item they’re holding is just a soft and cuddly object, the security and contentment they feel is real. Just as the rabbit is real at the end of The Velveteen Rabbit.
My grandmother also gave me my first romance, Joy in the Morning, by Betty Smith. The paperback is over 50-years-old, tattered and held together with a rubber band, and every so often I take it off the shelf and read it.
What book are you reading now?
I’m reading a children’s book, “The One and Only Ivan” by Katherine Applegate. The preteen, who lives across the street from me, will sometimes give me a book that she enjoyed. I read every book the child recommends as my way of encouraging her love of reading and sharing her opinion.
What are your current projects?
I’m superstitious and generally don’t discuss projects until the contract is signed. But, I can tell you that I’ve been working on shorter reads, novellas and short stories.
What would you like my readers to know?
