Excerpt
Two:
Her father pushed back his chair and patted Janai’s head
before rounding on Mariska.
She dropped her gaze to the floor. Her stomach was already
there. Show no fear. Show no fear.
“Stand up,” Obido ordered.
She attempted to rise, but her feet tangled in her skirt.
R981’s arm shot out as if to keep her from stumbling.
“What are you doing?” Obido glared at the android.
“I am performing my duty and assisting her,” he replied.
“Your duty is to report to me.” Her father confirmed what
she’d suspected.
“She was about to fall.”
It sounded like R981 was arguing. The general must have
thought, too, because his eyes narrowed on the android, but then he jerked his
attention back to her. “Remove your scarf.”
No one had seen her face since she was a child teased to
tears by her siblings. It had been a relief to be ordered to wear the veil to
spare the sensibilities of others and escape their horrified looks. While
bathing, she avoided the reflection glass and its taunting reminder of her
ugliness. Stomach clenching into a hard knot, she released the opaque fabric
from one side of her headdress.
Her father grimaced, and Janai, who’d never seen her naked
face, gasped.
Mariska held her head high and stared straight ahead.

Interview:
Tell us your latest news?
When and why did you begin writing?
When did you first consider yourself a writer? High school. Other kids complained about writing term papers, but I secretly loved the assignment.
What inspired you to write your first book?
Interview:
Where are you from?
Originally from California, although I now live in Missouri and
have lived in Idaho and Washington state. I’m a nester, but my husband is a
wanderer. We’ve worked it out so that we move, but I get a nice house at every
place. Fortunately, authors can write anywhere.
Tell us your latest news?
Mated with the Cyborg (Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance 2) has been
released! Although it’s book 2 of the series, it can be read as a stand-alone.
In most sci-fi romances, cyborgs are created as a result of a government
conspiracy. My cyborgs are cyberoperatives, secret agents working to defeat
terrorism in the galaxy. In Mated with
the Cyborg, Kai Andros goes undercover on an enemy space station where he
falls for the innocent daughter of a notorious terrorist. He’s forced to choose
between completing his mission and saving her life.
When and why did you begin writing?
First grade? Lol. I’ve been a writer all my life. I have a
degree in journalism and worked as a newspaper reporter. I’ve been
writing/publishing erotic romance since 2009, but I wrote fiction as a hobby
years before that.
When did you first consider yourself a writer? High school. Other kids complained about writing term papers, but I secretly loved the assignment.
What inspired you to write your first book?
Story ideas generally filter down to me out of the ether while
I’m daydreaming. Often there is nothing tangible that inspired them. My first
erotic romance was written for fun—I had no intention of trying to sell it, so
I was just playing. But a publisher accepted it. And a career was born!
What would you like my readers to know? Even though Mated with the Cyborg is sci-fi, it’s a romance, and the relationship,
interaction, and banter between the hero and heroine are paramount. Also, I’m
working on book 3, Captured by the Cyborg.
Watch for a March release on that one. Book 1, Stranded with the Cyborg is available in audio book as well as
ebook. All Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romances can all be read as stand-alones, but
characters from one book will reappear in another.
