Determined to help her father with his political career, Jocelyn sets aside dreams of love. When she meets the handsome and mysterious Grant Amesbury, her dreams of true love reawaken. But his secrets put her family in peril.

Grant goes undercover to capture conspirators avowed to murder the prime minister, but his only suspect is the father of a courageous lady who is growing increasingly hard to ignore. He can’t allow Jocelyn to distract him from the case, nor will he taint her with his war-darkened soul. She seems to see past the barriers surrounding his heart, which makes her all the more dangerous to his vow of remaining forever alone.

Jocelyn will do anything to clear her father’s name, even if that means working with Grant. Time is running out. The future of England hangs in the balance...and so does their love.

Interview for Victoria @ Deal Sharing Aunt

1.       How long does it take you to write a book?
Each book is different. Some books took years to plan, write, revise and edit.  Others take a few months. My most recent book took a total of almost a year because I had a lot of life changes—my daughter’s wedding and a move to a new state, which cut into my writing time. Recently, I quit my job to write full time so I should be able to write more quickly now and put out books every year.

2.       What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
While I write, I like to listen to harp or piano music, or even new age, but nothing with lyrics or a drum beat—those are too distracting. Also, if I’m tackling a particularly hard chapter, or struggling through edits, I like to nibble on Dove chocolate bites. You know what they say about “A spoonful of sugar…”

3.       Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
For the first book in my current series, The Stranger She Married, the premise was loosely inspired by Phantom of the Opera, but kind of a with the question “what if the phantom was a good guy who was just misunderstood?” The Guise of a Gentleman, book two, was about a character in the first book who was a pirate, and when it came to writing his story, he basically told me his story as we went along. Book 3, A Perfect Secret was inspired by the Movie, Sleeping with the Enemy. And book 4, The Suspect’s Daughter, was inspired by a true event called The Cato Street Conspiracy. The inspiration for all my other published works came from a variety of sources.

4.       What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
It never fails to surprise me how nerve-wracking it is to publish, and how much I always worry about whether my newest book good enough. This is my 13th title, but that is still my fear.

5.       What do you think makes a good story?
Unforgettable stories are about unforgettable characters—complex characters who have real feelings and real problems that aren’t easily solved, but who are courageous enough to stick to their convictions and prevail no matter how difficult.

6.       What would you like my readers to know?
My Regency historical romance novels and novellas have sizzling chemistry between the two main characters, but never include love scenes, so they are appropriate for all romance readers.
