EXCERPTS (Exclusive Excerpt):
Loud rapping on the kitchen patio door startled them.
“Je*us!” Grand mere
Catherine exclaimed. “Who is it?
“I’ll go and check,” Lacey rose and walked to the door.
She looked through the door and saw her brothers other best
friend Quinn Rolandis.
“Hey Quinn, come on in,” she greeted him with a big
smile. Quinn looked pumped with
masculine power. Like he’d just come from working out. He always did remind her
of a Mayan Clark Kent. She smiled with
her thoughts remembering that was the name his grandmother had given to him.
“Hi Lacey you look beautiful today,” he said scrutinizing
her up and down. He paused and remembered where he was. “Look I just stopped by
because I saw Nicholas’ car parked outside. Is he home?”
“You know he is,” she said, leading the way back into the
kitchen.
“Grand mere Catherine, guess who came by for a visit. It’s
Quinn,” Lacey said.
“So?” Grand mere Catherine answered. “Quinn ain’t anybody
special,” she said rising and walking over to the stove busying herself.
Lacey looked between the two and quickly realized that she
should seize the moment and excuse herself.
“Excuse me, I have something I need to take care of.”
The minute Lacey walked out of the room Quinn stared after
her until he felt eyes staring at him. He looked back and saw Grand mere
Catherine studying him. He dropped his head. He felt like her eyes could see
right through him.
For some reason Grand mere Catherine just didn’t trust
Quinn. Then she remembered her manners. “You hungry Quinn? I’ve got a pot of
Gator Gumbo on the Stove. You are welcome to have some if you want.”
He looked up and smiled. She wasn’t looking back at him. .
“Ah, no thanks. I’ve eaten already.”
