Stop the Diet, I Want To Get Off by LISA TILLINGER JOHANSEN Review, Trailer, Interview & Giveaway

Book Description for Stop the Diet:

The Paleo. The Zone. The Gluten-free. Another day, another diet. We’re caught in a never-ending merry-go-round of weight loss plans, fueled by celebrity endorsers, TV doctors and companies angling for a piece of a $60 billion industry. But do these diets really work? And how healthy are they?

Registered Dietitian Lisa Tillinger Johansen examines dozens of the most wildly popular diets based on medical facts, not hype. And along the way, she reveals tried-and-true weight loss strategies, relying on her years of hospital experience, weight-loss seminars and community outreach efforts.

With insight and humor, Stop The Diet, I Want To Get Off shows that the best answer is often not a trendy celebrity-endorsed diet, but easy-to-follow guidelines that are best for our health and our waistlines.

Interview

What genre do you write and why?
I write nonfiction nutrition books. They reflect my passion to help people live longer and healthier lives. It’s this passion that caused me to quit my job about ten years ago and go back to school to get a master’s degree in nutritional science. I’ve been a registered dietitian since and work as a health educator, speaker and author. I couldn’t be happier!

What is your next project?
I’m still doing the tour for my bestselling book Stop The Diet, I Want To Get Off! and am having a great time. Once that’s done I’ll take a few weeks off. The holidays are almost upon us and I’ll spend time with family and friends. Then I’ll get back to writing my next nutrition book. While I can’t say what it’s about, it’s a logical next step from Stop The Diet, I Want To Get Off!

In today’s tech savvy world, most writers use a computer or laptop. Have you ever written parts of your book on paper?
I have. While I primarily use a laptop, I always have a notebook with me and if out and about and have some time to kill, I’ll work on my latest book.

Do you ever get writer’s block? What helps you overcome it?
Sometimes I do get stuck while writing a chapter. When that happens I get up, stretch and clear my head a bit. Sometimes I take a walk. If that doesn’t work, I put the particular chapter I’m working on aside and start on another. That usually does the trick.

Name a quirky thing you like to do.
I don’t know if it’s quirky, but I love to karaoke. I enjoy it so much that I have my own karaoke system at home. It’s a serious system with great microphones, surround sound and more!

My Review:

This is the kind of book that everyone can understand and follow. It shows the reader that losing weight is all common sense and not fad diets. We must eat to give our bodies the nutrition it needs, but we also must stay as healthy as we can while we are dieting. As other diets are looked at we find out what is actually good and or bad about them. This is a great book for anyone who really wants to be healthy and lose weight. I give this book a 4/5. I was given this book for the purpose of a review and all opinions are mine.
