Underground. She is a big fan of all things horror, and has studied
Exorcism and Demonology. In her spare time, she attends paranormal
investigations and works for a care charity. Her latest release,

Interview
Where are you from?
I am originally from a town just outside of London
in the UK, but I now live by the sea in the beautiful South West of England.
Tell us your latest news?
I have just released a novella called Nails. This is
a paranormal thriller that is available from Amazon worldwide. I am excited
about this release, and it coincides with my good news: I am now signed with a
Literary Agent.
When and why did you begin writing?
I began writing from an early age – probably primary
school. I always enjoyed making up stories. I remember often writing poems,
short stories and entering competitions. This passion stuck with me well into
adulthood. I've never wanted to do anything else.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I don't think there was one defining moment, because
I have always written. Since I was a child. I think the first time I felt
validated as a writer was when my first full length novel was published – The
Banishing. This was a monumental event in my life, because it is one thing to
write in private at home, but quite another to have a publishing company offer
to represent your work.
What inspired you to write your first book?
My love of writing – and my love of horror. Both of
these passions combined left me with a desire to write a dark and frightening
book. That end result was The Banishing. I have written several books since
(Obsessed, The Shift and Nails) and all have been published, and all of them
are dark and creepy.
Do you have a specific writing style?
I wouldn't say that I have a specific style, but I
do tend to stick to frightening, psychological stories. I don't write light,
happy-endings. I like to take the human experience and turn it inside out. I
love exploring fear and the paranormal – anything that makes a reader uneasy. I
try to deliver this in all of my stories.
How did you come up with the title?
My latest work is called Nails. It's a novella about
a young woman who moves into a new home and finds herself facing the most
frightening confrontation of her life. The name Nails really is directly
relevant to the story, and I can't really explain too much without giving the
story away. You'll have to read!
Is there a message in your novel that you want
readers to grasp?
Ultimately, I like characters that face their fears
and fight them. I like to represent women in horror, more than anything. I like
to find what makes women tick, find their weakness, their sensitivities, and
exploit that until we draw out the fighter in them.
How much of the book is realistic?
None. Unless you believe in the paranormal. Nails is
essentially a ghost story, and I didn't draw on real life. I simply wanted to
create a haunted house story that was in a modern setting.
Are experiences based on someone you know, or events
in your own life?
No, Nails was – as my other work is – purely driven
from my imagination. I am an avid and passionate fan of the horror genre, I
feel this heavily influences my work. However it is all fiction, nothing is
ever intentionally a reflection of real life.
What books have most influenced your life most?
I think the most influential books have been the
ones that have given me the love of horror that I have today. There are so many
to name, I can't list an order of favourites, but amongst them would be Susan
Hill's The Woman in Black; Stephen King's Pet Cemetery; Glimpses of the Devil
by Malachi Martin and The Exorcist, by William Peter Blatty.
If you had to choose, which writer would you
consider a mentor?
This is a very difficult question to answer. I know
it is probably a horror cliché, but I'd say the most influential is Stephen
King. His work is so powerful, dark and enriching that I've been reading him
since I was a young teenager through to this very day. No one else has really
had the impact that King has had in the horror genre, and I can't help but
admire that deeply.
What book are you reading now?
I'm reading The Dark Sacrament by David Kelley. This
is a factual account of possessions and exorcisms in the UK and Ireland. I have
read it before, but I like this book very much, and enjoy a creepy read around
this time of year.
Are there any new authors that have grasped your
interest?
I really like Alison Littlewood, and Dan
Weatherer. I highly recommend checking
out their work. Both authors write dark and intense stories that are really
hard to shift after you've finished reading.
What are your current projects?
I have just released Nails, so I am working on the
promotion for that. I've just finished writing a novel called The Risen, and my
agent is currently trying to find a publishing house for that. 2016 will be a
very exiting year – I can't say too much yet, but it's worth me saying to stick
around and stay tuned!

I would love your readers to know that as well as
writing full length novels and short stories, I also run a website where I showcase
paranormal articles, reviews and interviews. My website is a place where you
