Asha is a 23 year old graphic designer and blogger living in Richmond VA with a dark past. Her most important rule: never get involved romantically.

Then she meets Blake, a 25 year old music venue owner with an equally dark past. From their first encounter, Asha finds it difficult to follow her own rules and can't deny the connection between the two of them.

Can Asha overcome her demons to go beyond surviving to thriving and will Blake be the perfect broken piece to the puzzle of her heart?

Claire GrangerAbout the Author:
Claire grew up in Texas, but her family moved to Virginia in 2001. She now resides in Richmond with her husband, 4 children (2 sets of twins!), and their fur babies.

She blogs over at The Granger Bunch and has her first novel releasing this summer! "When Faults Collide" is a contemporary romance, the first of the "Faultlines" series! She is already working on book two of the series as well as a non fiction and a few other exciting projects!

She is passionate about racial identity and equality issues, foster care, adoption, and non-profits that work to help victims of sexual assault and trafficking.

She is shamelessly addicted to romance, erotica, dark/twisted/taboo, smutty, sexy, anti-hero, flawed hero, controlling, mind blowing books! Basically everything that would make her mother cry. ;)

She loves hearing from her readers- it keeps her going! Thank you so much for all of your continued support!

Interview:

Where are you from?
I was born in Texas and lived there until I was 14 when my family moved to Virginia.

Tell us your latest news?
I am now halfway through the manuscript for the second book in the Faultlines series, and there will be a release date announced this summer. :)

When and why did you begin writing?
I have been writing since I could hold a pencil. I am not sure why I started, it was as natural as breathing. I found my voice and the ability to say all the things I couldn’t say out loud.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I have always considered myself a writer, but finishing “When Faults Collide” made me feel like an author and a “real” writer for the first time.

What inspired you to write your first book?
The characters came to me in a dream and I couldn’t shake their story. I kept thinking I would do it “one day” and then when I started typing I just couldn’t stop.

Do you have a specific writing style?
I consider my style to be very modern and casual. I want readers to feel like they are having a conversation with Asha.

How did you come up with the title?
Trauma victims are often living life constantly on guard and on edge. They basically exist in the “survival” mode. I thought of that as living on a fault line, so what happens when two people both living on the edge of a fault line meet/collide? That’s where it came from. :)

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Yes. While it is a love story, it’s also the story about overcoming your history and not allowing it to define your life. I also want them to understand the reality for so many victims.

How much of the book is realistic?
While the book is fiction, it is very much realistic and a very true account for how many survivors feel. If anything, I was giving a mild showing of what it’s like living with trauma and PTSD.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
There are many things in the book that are relevant to my own life, and many that are combined stories of teens that we have worked with as foster parents. There are also a lot of elements in Asha’s life that are based on real accounts of people with similar histories.

What books have most influenced your life most?
“The Chronicles of Narnia” was the first literary series I ever read in the 2nd grade. This sparked a love of reading for me.
“Jane Eyre” gave me my initial love of romance in unfortunate situations. As I went through several struggles in my own life, I found myself relating to her situation more.
“Speak” impacted me in many ways because it was my first time reading a book about a rape victim and the trauma they endured. It also influenced me in having a voice for victims.
The “Dark Duet” series by CJ Roberts influenced me a lot because it made me seriously re-evaluate my feelings on victims and monsters. Any book that is still probing me days later I would call influential, and despite the depravity of that series, it definitely had an impact.
There are SO many books I could name that sparked change in my life. Certain books that led me to love certain genres. I could go on for days and days!

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
I reached out to Pepper Winters when I started this journey of becoming an Indie author and she gave me some wonderful advice in getting started.
As far as a mentor, that’s hard. I like to consider my voice wholly original and while I have had many influences, I am not sure there is one that shaped my voice or mentored me more than another.

What book are you reading now?
“Flesh” by Kylie Scott but I will be finished by this evening. You’ll have to check out my Goodreads to see what today’s read is. :)

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Rhonda James. Again, I believe my writing is wholly original but her voice is similar to mine. Her first book “Across the Miles” is a wonderful and fun NA romance- go check it out! :)

What are your current projects?
I am working on book two of the Faultlines series and have JUST started dabbling in an erotic novella series that I plan to begin releasing in 2016.
What would you like my readers to know?

My heart and soul is in this book. I hope that when you read it you can feel that.
