About the Author:

When a life-changing injury forced her to give up a successful career as a personal trainer, Sara McBride did what any girl with the gift for gab and a typing speed that is freakishly fast would do—become a paranormal BBW erotic romance writer.

Long frustrated with the fitness industry’s lack of acceptance that many people naturally have a body mass index above the “normal” range, she has always championed acceptance and wellness for all—not just those crazy people who love to exercise. Viva la BBW!

A lifelong reader of fantasy and paranormal fiction, Sara lives with her very patient husband and two small children who now begin every sentence with “As soon as you’re finished writing that chapter, could we….”

Her license plate holder reads “My other car is a broom.”

This is her first work of fiction.

Interview
Where are you from?
I’m originally from the great state of Michigan where the winters are miserable and during the summer the mosquitos are as big as your head.

Tell us your latest news?
I just released the first book in my Charmed in Paradise paranormal romance series. Book one is titled The Awakening of Tara. This is my first attempt at writing fiction.

When and why did you begin writing?
I’ve always been a voracious reader and wanted to write. I was making my living as a personal trainer and yoga instructor when about a year ago I injured myself. The doctor said I was going to have to give up my career because of my injury. I was devastated. But then I got to thinking maybe one door closed so another could open. I asked myself what else would make you happy? Now I’m writing romance.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Not sure I do yet.

What inspired you to write your first book?
I was hired by a high end resort to be a guest yoga instructor for two weeks in Barbados. I met a palm reader who claimed to be a witch. Thought it would make a great story.

Do you have a specific writing style?
If I do I don’t know what it is.

How did you come up with the title?
My Husband and I sat down and started hashing out concepts, I said I want my character to become enlightened. He said that sounds a little too ethereal for romance what if we just awaken something in her.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
That there’s magic inside all of us.

How much of the book is realistic?
Well it’s a paranormal romance novel so… But the setting was inspired by my two weeks in Barbados so the setting and many of the places are real.

What books have most influenced your life most?
The Harry Potter series, To Kill A Mocking Bird and a Wrinkle In Time

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Nora Roberts, JK Rowling

What book are you reading now?
Just grabbed Go See A Watchman and Whiskey Beach

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
I find myself reading a lot more of the people who are writing the same kinds of books I’m writing. I guess you would call them the competition, though I don’t really see them that way. Just because someone reads their book doesn’t mean they won’t read mine. So I’ve been reading a lot of Milly Taiden’s stuff and Bella Forrest.

What are your current projects?

Currently I’m working on a new paranormal romance series.
