Synopsis: Real life crime solving can certainly put a damper on a romance.
When the biggest gossip in Newburg, Indiana ends up dead—with Sam Arnold’s dad the prime suspect—stuff gets real. It’s been a month and a half since she helped bring down a bad guy. It’s time to try her hand at a new case, especially since her boyfriend is out of town.
Special Agent Mitchell has been saddled with a sexy, driven partner. Cutting corners or covering shortcuts with charm doesn’t work on her. He misses brainstorming with Sam, and now that her dad’s reputation is on the line, the pressure’s on. Evading his watchdog--and snooze-fest new assignment--is top priority.
Time’s running out for Sam and Mitchell to solve the crime. His new partner’s special interest puts their romance in jeopardy and tries the relationship's trust, but an unlikely killer puts life into perspective.
About Sandra Sookoo
Sandra Sookoo Interview
1. When
did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
At
the age of ten after writing a report on Walt Disney. My childhood wasn’t a
happy one, so I thought if I wrote books, I could make sure everyone had a
happy ending.
2. How
long does it take you to write a book?
That
depends on the book, the material in the book, how long the book needs to be,
etc. The one I’m writing now will take three months (not including editing
time)
3. What
is your work schedule like when you're writing?
Usually,
I write in the morning. Then, since I’m also an editor, I edit clients’
manuscripts in the afternoon and if I haven’t hit my word count for the day,
I’ll write in the evenings.
4. When
did you write your first book and how old were you?
I
“wrote” my first “book” when I was ten, using the neighborhood kids as
characters. It took three reams of wide-ruled notebook paper, strung together
with yarn. Years later, I literally burned it because it was so bad LOL But
that’s when I knew I could do put my imagination to words and entertain
readers.
5. What
do you like to do when you're not writing?
I
love baking and cooking. I love traveling and visiting zoos. My biggest hobby
is anything Disney related.
6. What
does your family think of your writing?
My
husband is my biggest supporter. He’s the reason I now write for publication.
The rest of my family pretty much thinks it’s a hobby and I need to get a
“real” job with benefits. The other members think I’m going to hell because I
write books “with sex in them”. Hey, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do
;-)
7. How
many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
Currently,
I believe the number is almost 60, give or take. Asking for a favorite is like
asking a mother to choose a favorite child, but I do have a few I’m very proud
of: Act of Pardon, Nurturing that Spark,
To Bed or To Wed and now Love and
Cold Pie.
8. Do
you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are
they?
Write
every day. Write no matter what. Set aside time for writing and defend that
time. The best way to improve writing is just to write. You’ll have your own
style and way of getting from A to B and you won’t know what it is unless you
write.
9. Do
you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
Occasionally,
I’ll get a piece of fan mail. Not often though. I wish it were more. I love
hearing from readers who identify with a character or love a story.
10.
What do you think makes a good story?
Interesting
characters who have something to say and are human enough to make a reader feel
for them. A great plot doesn’t hurt either ;-)
11.
As a child, what did you want to do when you
grew up?
Either
a writer or a cake decorator, and even though I’m a fabulous baker, my cake
decorating skills are crap, so it’s a good thing I’m a writer LOL
12.
What would you like my readers to know?
I
hope you’ll pick up one of my books. I primarily write contemporary romances as
well as Regency romance. There’s no better time to try a Sookoo novel than now.
