Carrie Kennersly, a veterinary technician, has become known for offering healthy and popular dog treats at the clinic where she works. When the local bakery’s owner moves away, Carrie jumps at the chance to convert it into the Barkery, a shop to make and sell her canine delights.
But Myra Ethman, co-owner of another pet product store, hates the new competition. At the Barkery’s opening party, she badmouths Carrie’s homemade dog biscuits, insisting she’ll find a way to shut the place down. So when Myra is found dead with a Barkery biscuit beside her, Carrie must prove she didn’t do it before she’s collared for murder.

Writing and Me
by Linda O. Johnston
(Blog post for May 9, 2015: Deal Sharing Aunt)
My new Barkery & Biscuits Mystery Series has now
started. The first book is BITE THE
BISCUIT, and it was just released this May.
I write a lot. BITE
THE BISCUIT is my 39th published novel.
I had three books published last year, including my first Superstition
Mystery. I'll have two more books
published this year, including my second Superstition Mystery. I also write for two Harlequin romance
series, including my own Alpha Force miniseries about a covert military unit of
shapeshifters for their paranormal Nocturne line. And, yes, another Alpha Force book will be
published this year.
Okay, am I nuts?
Maybe. In essence, I'm writing
four series concurrently right now, since I'm also turning my Harlequin
Romantic Suspense stories into another miniseries.
But writing is what I do, especially now.
For many years, I was an attorney specializing in real
estate law. When the economy took its
last downturn I became unable to find the kinds of law projects I'd been doing
for a while. Eventually, it became clear
to me that I'd ramped up my writing enough that continuing to look for law jobs
was impractical, and I became officially inactive as a lawyer.
Right now, I'm delighted to be on the Great Escapes Virtual
Book Tour for BITE THE BISCUIT! In
addition to writing novels, I enjoy blogging and letting people know about my
published work and just getting out there and meeting readers and other writers
in person... and virtually!
So, in case you're wondering, what's BITE THE BISCUIT about?
Well, in the Barkery & Biscuits Mysteries, protagonist
Carrie Kennersly is a veterinary technician who also gets to realize her dream
of becoming an entrepreneur. Her good
friend Brenda Anesco has to sell her bakery, Icing on the Cake, and move away
from Knobcone Heights , California , because her mother is ill. Carrie buys it from her and converts half of
Icing into Barkery and Biscuits, a store that sells handmade dog treats made
from healthy recipes Carrie developed for patients as a vet tech.
But a married couple who own a pet supply store in Knobcone Heights aren't happy because they see
Carrie's new venture as competition. And
when the wife is found murdered with one of Carrie's special Barkery biscuits
near her, Carrie's the primary suspect and has to figure out how to clear
herself.
It's fun. It's a cozy mystery, the first in its series. And I look forward to more Barkery &
Biscuits Mysteries in the future.
I hope you will, too!
Great post!
