Interview:

Do you feel like your background or upbringing influences your writing style? If so, in what way(s)?
Yes, of course my background colors the way I see the world, and in turn the way that I write about the world I in-vision. But I would say that the most important thing that influences my writing was the day I walked down to the altar at church and gave my life to God. That was the day my redemption story began the next time I picked up a pen, I wrote about characters who were flawed and needed a savior, just as I had needed I havent stopped writing redemption stories even after all these years. Because my view of the world has forever been change because of that one miraculous day. Praise the Lord!
Describe After the Rain
After the Rain is the 7th book in the Rain Series. In this book I show the growth these characters have experienced throughout the years. They now have a very successful ministry and a beautiful home in the suburbs. But God uses their youngest son to show Isaac and Nina Walker that they have forgotten their first love thats when the drama begins for this family.

When and why did you begin writing
I have been writing since I was a child. I cannot tell you why I first picked up pen and paper and began to write, accept that I was drawn to the ideal of writing. I believe that God has gifted me with the ability to write stories that I never could have imagined without the Lords help and that is the reason Im so passionate about writing for HIM!
Is there a central message or theme in After the Rain that you hope readers will come away from the reading experience with?

What has been the toughest criticism youve received as an author? What has been the best compliment?
When I sent my first book off to an editor, I thought that it was perfect and that she wouldnt have much work to do, but one of the notes that was sent back to me was theres a reason why authors write what they know. I was devastated by that comment, but latter I admitted to myself that I hadnt bothered to research the career that one of my characters had and it threw the book off. These days, I research, so that I can write what I know!
The best comment I have ever received was when a reader emailed me and informed me that she hadnt attended church in many years, but after reading my first book, Former Rain, she was going back to church. I am very thankful to God when readers get the message of hope that I try to display in my stories.
Whats next for you? What can readers look forward to from (your name)
I am working on the sequel to After the Rain, the next book is titled: RAIN in the Promise Land. And will be uploaded in Mid-May.
How can we find you online and where can we pick up a copy of After the Rain
My website is www.vanessamiller.com. My Facebook page is: www.facebook.com/vanessamiller01
After the Rain can be purchase on any eReader device and the print book can be purchased at bookstores. However, the reader may have to order it in advance from the bookstore.
If you had to go back and do it all over again, is there any aspect of writing your novel or getting it published that you would change?
I dont think I would have changed much, because the journey has shaped me into the person I am today but if there was one thing I wish I could do better, it would be social media I am still so clueless about what to do with Twitter I dont even have an Instagram account and I cant figure out my Pintrest.

What has been the most effective method of marketing and/or publicizing your books so far? Why or how?
I think what worked best for me is that I travelled so much in the early days. I was able to meet a lot of readers and many of them have stuck with me through the years those readers now have eReaders and now that I have published many eBooks they have followed me over to that medium.
I also think that my best marketing was in the type of book I wrote. My reader seemed to identify with those characters and wanted to know more about them.
