My Favorite Sports Movies

I love watching baseball. Whether minor or major league, I love the experience of going to a stadium and riding that collective, palpable wave of enthusiasm that I don’t experience anywhere else. Sitting in your seat, whether on the first base line or the outfield bleachers, eating a hot dog and cheering for the home team is just so American. It’s part of the culture and reminds me of summer and laughter and making memories with my people.
But it also doesn’t happen very often. Maybe once or twice a year. Movies about baseball, however, are available 24/7. I could watch The Natural again and again. I enjoy most movies with a sports-related theme, particularly if there is an uplifting, inspirational message. 
Here are my favorite movies with a strong sports theme that evoked a strong emotional response: laughter, tears, a compulsion to root for the underdog(s).
