The Death of Torberta Turchin by Shannon Mawhiney Review & Giveaway

Book info:
What if you heard the voices of the dead?  Would you listen?

Would you have a choice?

Torberta Turchin loves attending St. Christopher's boarding school for the mentally ill.  It's home.  Short of a few demanding and needy ghosts, Torby has never been bothered much by the voices. Among them is her best friend Charlie, a musician from the 1930s. Charlie does his best to guide and protect her, acting as an invisible big brother. But after the arrival of a new student who can both hear and see her ghosts, Torby’s world starts turning upside-down, putting her life and the lives of her (living) friends at risk.  And Charlie can’t do much for her if he can’t figure out who’s trying to kill her.

Author info:
Shannon Mawhiney is a university librarian in Missouri who stereotypically loves to read, overbearingly loves her cat, and enormously loves her geeky husband. She is currently planning sequels to her first book and runs a review blog at http://mawhiney.blogspot.com.  She can also be found on Facebook athttps://www.facebook.com/torberta and on Twitter at http://twitter.com/#!/shammawhiney.

My Review:
This is a really good suspense novel. It is also a good paranormal story. This could really be a series and I would watch every week. Torberta is not normal. She talks to the dead, and tries to help the living. She goes to school for the mentally ill, and her gifts are not really appreciated. However the title gives away the ending, and I would have liked a different title (that cost the book a star). With that being said, her death itself is weird. The ending reminded of the ending to "The Sixth Sense". I also liked the authors take on Heaven, and the afterlife. I am giving this book a 4/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.
